College football is not linear. Too many variables. Talking heads have no idea how games will turnout. If they did, they'd be in Vegas and not on tv.

Tennessee has more talent, and they're at home.

This game is on the coaches.

Are the coaches playing? Cause I thought it was on 18 and 19 year old kids.

They've got more experience. We've got more talent. We also have the home field, well, for what its worth these days anyway.

I think we win this one, we're headed in the right direction and I think we take this one.

New rule, coaches can play on select plays. We win by dooley's hair blocking a field goal.

In all seriousness this argument goes back and forth. Its the coaches job to coach and the players job to preform at the level they were coached.... it goes back to their is no I in team. I think we win without opening up the entire playbook.

At some point the coach has to pat his player on the butt (no homo) and send him in. If he has been coached correctly, what that player does after that point is on him.

I tend to agree. Our O is slightly better, our D might be a step better and more deep than last year. If we had JJ I would give more credence to our D, but withstanding I think DL/LB play is in better shape.

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like we are a better team than last year... Or I should say I feel better in our chances...

I hope they favor the opponent in every game with this young team. The one issue with young is cockiness. They need to be hungry every Monday ready to prove people wrong on Saturday. If we weren't getting overlooked, I'd be more concerned they'd be looking on to FL. I'm damn glad Cincinatti hung 70 on an intramural squad to boost this matchups interest level too. At any rate I said it in another thread (homer as can be) Vols are back *****es, this week and next. Get the popcorn ready.

Our team is more mentally sound then it has been in a longtime and CDD has the players prepared for this game. Our players will lay it all on the line for CDD, don't be suprised if we play a almost perfect game on both sides of the ball and on special teams. The ROUT will be on!

Imo we are not significantly better than cincy in any way, so this will be a good test of dooleys in game ability.

Here's my theory: Cincy's coach worked with Kelly before he left. Seems like they had the same mindset and vision for the team they were building. Seems like his blueprint was already in place with all the players he wanted for their style. Kelly leaves and this guy takes a team that he helped build to a 4-8 record. It's not like he walked into a job where he has no idea of what he's walking into. Dooley comes in and takes 3 coaching staff's worth of players and manages a 6-6 record and a bowl game. Dooley survives a brutal SEC schedule to finish even and this guy can't take the players he's put into place himself and pull a .500 record in the Big East. We're talking about suffering in a conference that sent UCONN to their AQ bowl game. I'm not sold on the Bearcats.

Cincys coach won multiple conference titles at his last stop, so I'm going to assume hes at least decent.

Slice it however you like, cincy has a decent coach, a good quarterback and talent thats within the same ball park as ut. I expect us to win, but it will be a good litmus test. Moreover, it seems everyone who makes a comfortable living by forecasting football says this will be a tight one. So there you have it.

Coach Jones had nothing to do with this program while Kelly was here. The only connection was Jones taking the job at Central Michigan after Kelly left and then taking the job in Cincinnati after he went to ND. They both run the spread but Jones runs a spread option with more emphasis on running the ball. So no, Jones didn't have anything to do with forming this team while Kelly was here.
