REALISTICALLY: who would be your choice to replace Fulmer?

Why does everyone think a guy can come into the SEC and win, when he could win NOTHING with SEC talent? The guy proved he can't really do much...

What about Chris Peterson from Boise State? He has really put that team on the map. Plus he's beaten teams that TN would've gotten crushed by! You think Fulmer and the Vols could hang 43pts on Stoops and the Sooners? I doubt it! We NEED to start campaigning for Peterson!

my top 3, not in any particular order: Spurrier (only if jr comes with him), Skip Holtz, Jim Leavitt. Jim Leavitt seems to have a knack for developing quasi-good talent, granted it is in the Big East. Skip has done fairly well with ECU, if he had better talent I think he'd be more successful. And Spurrier, that is self explanatory. Especially if JR. came with him to eventually take over when pops retired.

I don't see Tommy leaving Auburn. If he didn't leave when they went behind his back to interview Petrino, he won't leave now. Lane Kiffin is a poor choice as well. I don't see him doing anything successful. anywhere. I'm afraid someone like Kippy Brown will be hired (please God, i hope Hamilton stays away from the UT family). I just don't think there is a Bruce Pearl of college football out there at this point for Hammy to consider. And naturally, thats what everyone expects (someone to come right in and change things around their first season). The only coach thats poised to leave their current program for another, that could come here and post a winning season their first season, is Steve Spurrier.

Lane Kiffin and Kippy Brown are poor choices but you think Spurrier, Holtz and Leavitt are good choices? That's laughable. I'm not sold on Kiffin or Brown, but I'd take them both and pay them more than Fulmer if it meant not having Spurrier, Holtz or Leavitt.

Personally, I really want Venables.

He didn't put them on the map. He kept them there. Dan Hawkins is the coach that put them on the map and is twice the coach Peterson is.

EXCELLENT suggestion. He'd be GREAT!

Realistically, I'd be tickled with any of Venables, Muschamp, Kiffin, Mendenhall, Patterson or Harbaugh. I'll throw Butch Davis in there as the long shot.

I did not know that Hawkins was the architect of the Boise State success right now. So is Peterson coaching someone else's recruits and living off that success??

Hawkins built that program from the ground up. It is his baby. Peterson is merely sustaining his success.

But you don't think he's good enough to build success here?

because Saban, Meyer, Richt and Miles have all done exactly that very recently.

You laugh at proven head coaches and you want an unproven defensive/"assistant" head coach to take over our program? that, my friend, is laughable. At least the 3 names I offered have proven themselves as winners as HC....
