Realistic Predictions for Season

Honestly, I don't care so much about wins and losses this year as I do seeing genuine improvement on the field. More heart on the field. Less mental mistakes. The will to win.

8 wins. UT beats one of the big 4 (UF, UGA, AL, OM), but losses to either SC or AUB.

I think anything less than 8 will be surprising to me. With all the hype and emotion flowing through fans I think the players will play harder and with the emotion we haven't had in the stadium since the Cali blow out and one point loss to FL 3 years ago at home. I think the FLorida game is a toss up with FLorida killing us or falling flat on their face with coming out too intense. But yes i agree SC and AU will be scary teams trying to be scrappy like us. And lets not forget that Vandy and KY have given us fits in the last 4 years. Go vols!

14-0

CLK Coach of the Year

EB wins Heisman

JC wins Davey O'Brien

Montario wins Doak Walker

McNeil wins Remington

McCoy wins Nagurski

We are heralded as the greatest surprise team in sports history....Then all our coaches take other jobs and Mike Hamilton re hires CPF and we dont make a bowl in '10. JMHO.

With WKU, Ohio, Memphis, Vandy, and Kentucky, 5 wins should be in the books. I don't think it is out of the question to win 3 out of 4 against UCLA, USCjr, Auburn, and Georgia especially with all of them in Neyland.... I guess I'll say 8-4 as well...

I'll take the bait.

Your WR corps has been decimated. It's really not that bad since they weren't that formidable anyway and may give the frosh a few chances that could turn out better than what you had. Still, that's hard to rely on. Bryce Brown, heralded as he may be, isn't going to save your season, as one person on here suggested. Hardesty may, Brown won't. Your defensive backs are without a few players and more (Rogan) appear to be still up in the air. That's harder to deal with than the receiver position, me thinks.

8-5 with a bowl game win.

6-6.
the unfortunate thing for ut is that they play uf so early in the season. and because of kif's big mouth, meyer is going to run it up (and no, there is no chance of an upset here. ut's offense won't move and florida will score repeatedly on a short field)- we all know this. but how he is really going to screw ut isn't in the game itself. he's going to make certain to expose every weakness ut has on both sides of the ball. its going to be a blue-print on how to beat the vols for the other sec teams on ut's schedule. plus, ut is way, way too one dimensional. this is the sec- the playmakers you're relying on offensively are freshmen and an inept qb. get real.

WKU-W
UCLA-W
UF-L
OU-W
AU-W
UGA-w
UA-L
USC-toss up
UM-W
UM-L
VU-W
UK-W

if we can start out and beat wku and UCLA we will beat AU...we have owned UGA over the last 20 years except for their small run
Florida will not expose UT as some here said...
UT will work ball control and have a very fast D, not real big though.
The teams that are big and can pound will give us trouble.
I think we beat UGA and our losses will be to fl, al and ole misswith SC being a tossup.
We could shock bammer as they have inexp qb but...

People saying 9-3 or better don't realize how thin we are in the trenches. One injury to Big Dan or Montori Hughes and there goes our ability to stop the run. One injury to anyone on the OL and we are in some serious trouble. Throw in the fact that we are going to have below-average QB play and inexperienced WRs, 9-3 is just not likely.

+1,000

not to mention, relying heavily on freshmen play in the SEC isnt a sure formula for success...

9 - 3. 6-6 is highly unlikely IMO. We won a bunch of games in 2004 with a bunch of freshman playing, so why is this impossible this year?

True, we cannot afford alot of injuries at DT, but the rest of the defense looks OK, particularly defensive backs. OL has to be better. As long as we dont have a rash of injuries we will be fine here too.

It all depends on QB play. If we are mearly average we should be good on offense with good playcalling. Once Jones and Moore are back WR is fine. You only need 2 WR's if you are going to run an "I" formation 50 percent of the time anyways, and with rotation plus shotgun packages we really only need 6 healthy bodies here. Warren, Hancock, Jones, Moore, Nuke, Teague, plus the TE's and RB's can split out. WR and RB are easy positions to easily contribute early at if you are a freshman.......We can make it.
