Realistic Predictions for Season

9-3 for me

I was talking to an Alabama fan. He said 8-4 he was actually worried about playing Tennessee this year. He thinks we might beat bama then lose some other random game

I think 8 is realistic, and 9 would not really shock me. I'm not drinking the Ole Miss kool-aid just yet. I can see them cracking under the pressure. As bad as I hate to admit it, UGA might surprise a few people this year. Last year they were over rated and this year some might actually be over looking them. If Cox turns out to be a pretty good QB and King or another RB can pick up the slack for Moreno, they might be pretty solid. I can also say the same for us. If our QB and OL play is good this year, we might surprise some people too.

you are absolutley right. they will lose to UF and likely OSU in the opener. the running game wont be the "hand off to only one RB" like it has been. this will be a multi-back attack much like our own, and we will have success, and so will they. their OL is very good. Cox doesnt have to be stellar, just has to manage the game well and do what needs to be done when it needs to be done, a similar role to JPW at Bama last year. UGA wins 8 or 9. Winning 9 depends on how the first 6 games of the season go for them.

anyone who thinks beating UGA is a lock is drowning in kool-aid.

I would surprised by anything less than 8-4. I think that we have many glaring weakenesses but so do many of the teams on our schedule. It is hard to find more than 4 losses on the schedule. I also am not drinking the Ole Miss koolaid but even with a loss there, we could still easily win 8. I think that UGA is going to be way down this year too. 10-2 is not unimaginable at all.

The only game that I think it is totally unrealistic to think we can win is Florida. Beating them this year would be more than monumental.
But every other game we have a very realistic shot at winning. I have heard people say we should expect to run the ball 40+ times a game. If that is true then I like our chances.

We were 5-7 last season with one of the worst offenses in the country. If THAT offense was anywhere near average we would have won 7 games. I'd like to think that this coaching staff is better than last years by a wide margin as far as developing talent and running an offense.

8-4 and a bowl win would be a great building block.

8-4 and a decent bowl bid would be a testament to our coaches actual coaching ability and would signal UTs return to prominence, IMO. 2010 wont be a NC year, but if we get off on the right foot, all things will come in good time.

7 wins is all that I ask for and think is most likely the case. But Im predicting 8 wins. If that makes sense.

9/05/09 Western Kentucky W 41-10
9/12/09 UCLA W 35-17
9/19/09 At Florida L 24-37
9/26/09 OHIO UNIVERSITY W 28-10
10/03/09 AUBURN W 24-14
10/10/09 GEORGIA L 35-38(OT)
10/24/09 At Alabama L 14-17
10/31/09 SOUTH CAROLINA W 31-7
11/07/09 MEMPHIS W 34-17
11/14/09 At Ole' Miss W 28-27
11/21/09 VANDERBILT W 28-13
11/28/09 At Kentucky W 34-10

There are my predictions, assuming our offense exists. You could plug a loss in at Ole Miss, but I'm not sold. I'm not sold on us either. I would be completely happy with this. I say 9-4, losing our bowl with a regular season of 9-3, and winning at 8-4

8-4, we lose to Auburn, beat UGA, and lose to UF, Ole' Miss, and Bama. I would pick Bama for us if it was at our place.

Now I know some of us can be biased at times but I'd like to know what everybodys realistic predictions are.

I say 6-6. Possibly 5-7.

Discuss.

That's not realistic, that's pessimistic! Realistically there's no reason whatsoever why this can't be a 9-3 or 8-4 team. We have the talent! Personally I think at worst we are 8-4 with losses to Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Ole Miss. However I believe at home we can surprise Georgia.

We beat one of UF, Bama, @ UGA(most likely UGA)... and have 50/50 games vs. Ole Miss and South Carolina.

Other than that, we win out... although there will be a chance of Auburn/UCLA beating us.

theres also a chance we lose to USCjr, as terrible as that sounds. we arent a dominant team right now. we barely beat them in 07 and they kicked our butts last year. i think we win it, but its not a gimmie like many here think it will be...

I honestly think we could and should have a 9 win season before a bowl game IM thinking we might have a half decent shot at making it to the SEC championship game... Honestly the o-line is gonna pick up Hardesty, Brown, Oku are gonna shred and thats gonna open up passing for who ever the qb is (i think crompton) With Eric Berry and Monte lighting them up on defense.

This season will hinge on three things: injuries, O-line play, and QB play (in no certain order). If we can be even remotely productive on O then we should be right at 8 wins. If Crompton really settles into this system, gets the help he needs up front, and the skill positions step it up I could certainly see 9 or 10. I realize 10 wins is, perhaps, being a little overly optimistic coming off a 5-7 season, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.

8-4 or 7-5 is a realistic outcome i would think. Really depends on what we get out of the qb position and O-line. The defense should be decent enough to keep us in most games. Its all on the offense as to how successful this team will be. It would be nice to get a surprise, but i'm no crompton fan unless he gives me reason to be. I'd love for him to give me reason to be.

7-5 plus bowl win, be competitive in the losses, be physical and spirited in all the games, show improvement in running game, special teams and QB play and play a lot of the Fresh/Sophs

If we accomplish those things, I'll be very happy with this season.

9 wins...book it,this will be a better football team in every aspect. Finally a special teams coach, I have watched UT piss away too many games over the last 3 years due to special teams.

here's my predictions in order of how likely they will be:

1. 7-5 losses to UF, UGA, Ole Miss, Bama, and SC...wouldn't be surprised if we beat uga or ole miss...also, our o line is one or two injuries away from being a disaster, plus with QB still not being completely clear i am still skeptic
2. 8-4 *see first two sentences of explanation #1
3. 9-3 losses to UF, Bama, and either UGA or Ole Miss
4. 6-6 this is a long shot, if our o line gets hit with injuries this will most likely be the outcome...plus memphis and ucla are not COMPLETE push overs

7-5.............they will miss 9 wins by 6 points total. So, 2 games will be down to the wire but they will not be able to 'er done.
