Realistic Options with Fulmer at the Helm

Why?

Name his qualifications

His only qualification is he is a VFL.

If you were to look at his coaching merits, he wouldn't even get consideration as OC at this time. Only been an OC for 2 years..maybe. Some reports say he's passing game coordinator and isn't the one calling the shots.

Lets get a coach; a real, qualified, big league football coach and lets go kick some Florida :shaking2: and get this awful narrative surrounding this program turned around and start our upward climb to SEC superiority!

But that's just my $0.02

If they are serious about winning and playing for championships, the first call and sit down is with Chris Petersen.

Here's a fact for ya---Fulmer is a football coach. He sh**s orange. He will care enough and is smart enough to hire a real football coach.....not someone who has had a Cinderella season but someone that knows football and can coach football. Give the man a chance....if that's possible with some of the experts on this board...

the only realistic guy left standing I'd have any interest in is Miles.

I want Tee to be the 25th Vols HC, not the 24th. atm this job would doom him. We need someone with xp who can handle this untenable situation and give us some stability.

Don't even bring Tee on as OC. Let him go his own way and by the time Les retires hopefully Tee will have a year or two as HC at a mid level school.

When the idiots fired a Hall of Fame National Champion Legend, the rest of the coaching community took note. They elected him College Football Coaches President. So when they called Bob Stoops in 2008, his quote was "if Phil can't make you happy then I can't either". No serious coach would have ever dealt with Tennessee. As we saw with the first 3 hires. All clowns.

To fix this, Phil would have to be the one. He is the one the entire coaching community respects.

I heard Haslam's son-in-law's nephew's little cousin's next door neighbor wanted to be coach. So that is who we get next!

I love what Fulmer did in the 90's, but just like Major's 80's time, it was over. The hires afterwards have NOTHING to do with Fulmer, good or bad. Fulmer loves UT but is so loyal to people ABOVE results is why he didn't last. I don't think we'll get any great coach this go around either. Dang it. I was ready for the pirate!!!!

For those of you so sure that Phil will make a great decision, just remember that there were some real turds on staff from 2000-2008. The two best assistants that Fulmer had were guys Johnny had already hired.

Before our eyes, we are watching a power struggle for the control of a billion dollar corporation under the guise of amateur athletics....sigh...

this would be amazing...but lets be real...it's too good to actually happen

Honestly, if it came down to hiring Miles with Tee at OC, I'd rather have Phil. Let Phil groom Tee for three years and then roll.
