Alright, prepare to crucify me...
Let's look at a few things about yesterday's game.
1.) We played a top 10, much more talented team in an extremely hostile stadium. Death Valley is loud & full of rabid LSU fans, a unique, yet fun breed to begin with.
2.) We put together 4 quarters of football against a good team for the first time this season. Say what you want about LSU & Les Miles, but they are a better team right now than we are.
3.) There were 3 penalties against us the whole game & 2 of them were absurd. (The pass interference in the endzone was on an uncatchable ball & we all know what a blunder the last call was.)
4.) I don't recall us committing a single turnover all game.
5.) We forced 4 turnovers.
Numbers 3, 4, & 5 show that we are starting to do the little things right, which is key to winning football games!
The coaches made a few mistakes, just as the players did. But all in all, this team is improving with each game. Give this staff time and you will be overly pleased with the results. We as fans can't seem to understand that the program did not fall off over night, thus it cannot be fixed overnight.
In conclusion, I didn't like seeing Dooley's reaction at the end of the game either, but cut him a little slack. This staff and this team have been busting their backsides to improve. And to see their hard work that should have been rewarded with a great validating win reversed in that fashion had to be hard to take. Dooley will improve with time, but we have to allow him that time rather than trying to run him out of town on a rail 5 games into the season.
Just my humble opinion.
