Alright, prepare to crucify me...

Let's look at a few things about yesterday's game.

1.) We played a top 10, much more talented team in an extremely hostile stadium. Death Valley is loud & full of rabid LSU fans, a unique, yet fun breed to begin with.

2.) We put together 4 quarters of football against a good team for the first time this season. Say what you want about LSU & Les Miles, but they are a better team right now than we are.

3.) There were 3 penalties against us the whole game & 2 of them were absurd. (The pass interference in the endzone was on an uncatchable ball & we all know what a blunder the last call was.)

4.) I don't recall us committing a single turnover all game.

5.) We forced 4 turnovers.

Numbers 3, 4, & 5 show that we are starting to do the little things right, which is key to winning football games!

The coaches made a few mistakes, just as the players did. But all in all, this team is improving with each game. Give this staff time and you will be overly pleased with the results. We as fans can't seem to understand that the program did not fall off over night, thus it cannot be fixed overnight.

In conclusion, I didn't like seeing Dooley's reaction at the end of the game either, but cut him a little slack. This staff and this team have been busting their backsides to improve. And to see their hard work that should have been rewarded with a great validating win reversed in that fashion had to be hard to take. Dooley will improve with time, but we have to allow him that time rather than trying to run him out of town on a rail 5 games into the season.

Just my humble opinion.

Good post...I think we are takeing baby steps in the right direction. It takes time and we need to remember that.

:salute:You are right on IMO. I was surprised that we could stay with a team with the talent they have as short on numbers as we are and as young as we are....I think you have to give the coaches credit for doing a really excellent job. Chris Simms was really good.....didn't see the whole game...missed parts but I saw only one questionable throw. Thought he played tough smart football.

I'm guessing you meant Matt Simms and yes he is playing better. I would love to see him behind a line providing some actual protection.

agree with almost everything, except for #1.

lsu isn't top 10, despite what the polls say right now.

I love Dooley's reaction. It shows he is trying to WIN every game not just write this season off as a rebuilding year.

There were four penalties. I think you forgot either the false start or the ineligible receiver downfield. Or, an I inventing the false start ( James stone, maybe). Still, I was happy with the clean play....until....

Another point to be realistic. The game was lost on 4th and long of that last series with just over a minute to go. If we would have stopped them the game was over. It should have never gotten to that last play. Thanks for the post. It shows some clear thinking is going on in the emotional aftermath.

agree, based on our personel against their's, we should have been in that game. I'm proud of these guys and I'll continue to cheer for them and I'll not bash dooley like of the morons here do.

Way to conservative on that play. We needed to make Lee move his feet. And I agree...the two fourth-down plays, ours and theirs, were where the game was lost.

I tried to post this last night but didn't get my account verified until just now. As a new user I can't create new posts so I decided to respond to a thread that was relevant to my point.

Anyways, I'm an LSU season ticket holder and was at the game last night. I don't come here to talk smack only to offer up a different point of view on some of the topics I was reading on here last night (ie: no flag was thrown, LSUs O-line moved early on the last play, the helmet thing, etc. )

As I said I was at the game and there were at least 2 flags I saw that were thrown on the "play of chaos."

This is the audio from the LSU broadcast team during the final moments of the game. As you will hear, they realized a flag was thrown right after the play ended. For some reason the CBS crew didn't catch it.
YouTube - LSU vs Tenn Final 36 sec Debacle (Audio Only)

Now, an LSU player did throw his helmet but a Tenn. player did as well on the 15 yard line. Not to mention Tenn. bench players ran onto the field BEFORE the LSU helmet was thrown which also could have been a penalty. This video also shows that there was no offensive line penalty on LSU as some have claimed and that we only had 11 players on the field. See here: YouTube - Vols vs. Lsu Final Regulation Play : Breakdown for the Morons

Finally, if you are suggesting that wasn't PI in the end zone then I can't make you change your mind but I completely disagree. Your defender had his arm on our guy and was using his body to prevent our WR from getting to the ball. See here: YouTube - Tennessee 14 at LSU 16 oct 2 2010 end of the game just another day on the SEC

There were also plenty of calls that went your way. The intentional grounding that wasn't called shortly after we committed the same penalty. There was a pass interference call that wasn't called and 3 or 4 clear holding penalties that didn't get called.

Anyways, I just wanted to give you the other side of the story and you can decide for yourself if the refs screwed Tenn. I'm hoping some of you will take away from this that you didn't get screwed because that is a hard pill to swallow. I'll never forget the 2004 game we played against Auburn where we were totally screwed by the refs all game (YouTube - Ref Gate LSU vs Auburn 2006). I would have much rather just lost fair and square rather than allowing refs to determine the outcome of the game.

I met a lot of good Tenn. fans this weekend and wish you guys nothing but luck the rest or the season and in the coming years.

PS: Does anyone here have the Tenn. radio broadcast? I'd love to hear how it went down with your guys.
