Realistic Expectations for the season.

I believe we will get to 6 wins. I can still see wins over UTC, USC, Mizzou, UK and Vandy. I don't think we will win them all but I do think we win 4 of them.

Our defense will keep us in all of these games.

If our defense manages to turn over the ball AND score then quite possibly.

After the last few games and witnessing just how bad our offense is I've been forced to change my expectations. At the beginning of the season I had fairly decent hopes, at least, that we'd be able to go bowling this year. I was by no means one of those fans that really thought we could go 7 or higher in the win column. I've eaten the humble pie since then and I'm sorry to say I just don't see us going bowling unless we pull off some miraculous win AND beat KY. Three weeks ago if you had asked me if we could beat KY I would have laughed at you and said of course. Ask me today and I truly don't know if we can.

My new expectations at this point are that we probably won't be going bowling, but instead just beat both Vandy and Kentucky and likely end with another 5-7 season. Those are my new realistic expectations.

The fans are just hungry. 99% of this screaming going on at the moment will quiet down just as soon he secures one big win.

I am not talking a field goal at the last second miracle catch win.

I am talking a complete and utter domination of a relevant opponent win.


If Tennessee were to somehow miraculously come out and beat South Carolina from the first tick on the clock to the after both teams are in the locker room win. I mean at minimum a two touchdown win.

I think it would speak volumes for the "process" if fans were to see an actual domination of a relevant opponent.


Again I think if UT goes bowling it will help significantly for next year as we were pretty much guaranteed we were going bowling this year.

Next year becomes 10 times more difficult if this season finishes 5-7 again this year.

Ha ha. Yeah I know everyone is down on the offense and I am too a little but I think florida's defense was just better than expected. They didn't have those crushing breakdowns like they had vs KY and Alabama. I believe we bounce back.

How about their dline taking 5 minutes to line up before each down? How were we not able to take advantage of that crap? They looked like UT's 2012 Dooley. I heard an announcer say something about a ref keeping his hand on the ball so FL had time to line up.

I know we had our chances unfortunately we decided to jump offsides each time that happened and it wasn't always our linemen as once it was our TE. Florida's D settled down after that.

4 - 8, 5 -7. Bama, Ole Miss top to bottom are better teams than UT. USCe might be beatable. But if we lose to USCe, this team will be spent making it very difficult to even beat Mizzou and Kentucky if they continue to play as well as they have.

FLA showed everyone the blueprint. Stack the box and play up tight on our receivers. They can't get off their blocks in time for Worley to make a throw before getting devoured in the backfield. I really don't see how we get through the season without burning Dobbs' redshirt.

Thanks. I am much more optimistic now than I was Sunday or Monday. I re-watched the offensive plays today and honestly it was nowhere near as bad as I remembered it to be.

Utilize the two TE look more. Extra blocking and athletic enough to run the seam against slower LBs. I know not a permanent solution, but worth a shot.

Ole Miss - W/L: We get Pearson/Smith back and Hurd at full health and Scott off of a good learning experience with UTC. If the UT offense that played UGA comes out and the D stays consistent I think it comes down to Bo choosing to have a good game or not. If the Offense plays like the UF game then Bo could throw 8 interceptions and it wouldn't matter. But with consistent O play and the return of some starters this could be a trap game for Ole Miss.

Bama - L: Don't have much to say about this one. I don't think it's going to be as ugly as it's been in the past but it could be a very low scoring affair on our part.

USCe - W: I think (barring injury) we beat a very inconsistent USC team. Even if they come playing lights-out I think our D is stout enough to get us the W. I also think this is the time where our O starts to gel a little better and we won't see Worley on the ground as much.

UK - W: I think Kentucky has looked really good thus far but I just don't see them beating us. The coaching staff should have all of the kinks worked out by this time of the year that we should beat them. It might be close but I'm calling for a win here.

Mizzou - W: Same thing as USC. Mizzou looks decent but I think we win at home.

Vandy - W: Oh dear lord we better end up with this as a win. If not then the homepage for Volnation better redirect to a suicide hotline because it will look nasty on here. Not much to say other than Vandy is far and away the worst team we will play this year. Maybe worse than UTC.

Final prediction is a 7 win season plus a bowl game, MAYBE 8 wins if we pull some gypsy magic out of our a$$e$ and beat Ole Miss. Worse case scenario is we drop one to Mizzou or USC and still end up with 6 wins on the season and go to a bowl game. I really don't see us only winning 5 unless we implode and USC and Mizzou get it together.

7-6 over all. If more Wins I'll be happy. Be upset with not making a bowl but that's the fun of being a Vol fan (sarcasm)
