Good think you qualified the remarks, as your opinion, because it is obvious that George Quarles (and I don't live in Maryville) is far and away the best coach in the state. Check out the numbers, long term numbers.
Quarles is good and all.... But Maryville had the highest enrollment in 4A before the classification change. They didn't face ANY competition outside of Alcoa and Hillsboro every year. Shadowens, on the other hand, won consecutive championships at Smyrna in probably the most dominant region in Tennessee high school football. Furthermore, before he got to Blackman the school's overall record was 36-52. Last year, they won the region and went 10-2... But most importantly, Shadowens is the guy that coached Rod Wilks......
