I was wondering how the UT Nation is preparing for the upcoming loss to Auburn in Saturday's SEC Championship game?

Can UT just go ahead and forfeit and save some face going into their consolation bowl game?

Oh well...good luck. You all will certainly need it.

Cheers!

We are preparing the same way you guys probably did when they kicked your but. Play with a lot of emotion and hope that Auburn is looking toward the NC. No one here is going to deny that Auburn is the best team in the SEC right now.

Well, if that was supposed to be a flame, its a lame one.

Most true football fans have 1 team they pull for. I see you have 2. Makes it easier jumping bandwagons when your team doesnt quite live up to expectations (like losing at home to what was supposed to have been the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC East).

The disappointment, if any, this saturday must not be near as disappointing as

- your UGA Dawgs choked

- your Auburn Tigers, even if they do win, wont be playing for the MNC.

So you're in for double whatever disappointment we are in for.

While I know it was an attempt at a flame, forfeiting is no way to save face. Play the game, give it your all and let the better team win.

Hey there's nothing wrong with not being able to pick a mascot.

Let the Eagle-Tiger-Cave Troll-Unicorn-Amoeba-Dust Bunny-'Bammers in Disguise go.

As for the first reply: AU was my undergrad school (my true alma mater), so why would I be disappointed about how UGA played this year. I'm in grad school here at UGA and use the UGA designation more in term of location than in terms of fan support.

UA wiped the floor with you guys. You didn't stand a chance. True, they also dominated UGA, but what else would you expect?

As far as the UGA game goes, it isn't so much that UT "beat" UGA as it was that UT happened to be in the same stadium when UGA self-destructed. Not being a true fan of either team, but calling them as I see them, I would guess that--if UGA and UT played each other 10 times--UGA would win 8 of 10. They are clearly a better team than UT. 'Nuff said about a team I really don't care about.

UT is such an awesome team that they totally demolished perennial SEC powerhouses Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Oh wait, that didn't happen. They barely won!

So you guys barely get by two of the worst teams in the nation by the skin of your teeth, then you have to face a team that is arguably the best in the nation this Saturday.

I hope they put in a gumball machine full of Prozac in the Georgia Dome because the UT fans are going to need it Saturday night!

Auburn would stomp you guys. You barely got by Stanford. Oh yeah, what's their record now, by the way?

What was AU's only close game this season? I recall it was when we played reigning national champion LSU, then ranked #5. LSU lost to us and to the Dawgs, but since then have pulled out another excellent season.

Too bad LSU didn't get a chance to put the smack down on USC last year: they clearly would have. And if AU gets that chance this year (If the Sooners choke again in their champ game), you guys won't be enjoying a back-to-back.

I just call 'em as I see 'em, and USC has failed to impress me this year. Leinart--or however you spell it--deserves the Heisman. Other than that, they're nothing special.

USC deserves their spot at number one. They've had the target on their chests the whole season, and dominated...

#10/11 Virginia Tech 24-13
Who may very well advance to a 10 win season and be the best team in the ACC

#21/23 Arizona State 45-7
Alright... I realize that the Sun Devils just lost to Arizona, but ASU's quarterback suffered a career-ending shoulder seperation, and they still have a huge W over #11 Iowa 44-7

#4 Cal 23-17
When Aaron Rodgers was playing with a 100% passing efficiency for three quarters of the game, and Cal's offensive production was nearly double that of USC's

Notre Dame
If any of you watched this game, this is way they played when they managed to beat Tennessee at Neyland and beat Michigan. The same team that did those two amazing feats... And they got paddled beyond belief with Leinart throwing 24/34 for 400 yards and 5 TD's

I know you can make the case for Auburn being the top team in the country -- dominating the SEC is no small feat -- but I will take USC as number one anyday. They have that west coast offense, but dont think they dont have a rock-solid defense -- they allow an average of just 11 points per game (8.25 against non-conference opponents, if you're one who doubts the Paco-10), in a conference as offensively-oriented as the Pac-10, no less. They play for breaks, and every time they get the ball, they make sure they turn that posession into points. Look at the Cal game for a good example of this. That's how they won it -- Not only do they play well, they just know how to win.

If USC were to play Auburn, it would be a tough matchup but I think USC would win solid, by 10 points. Auburn would have to play damn-near perfect on the offensive side of the ball -- more than one turnover or any sizeable amount of penalties for Auburn, and USC wins the game.

How hard is USC to get into for an undergrad? I'm going to send out my application within the near future.

I'm looking to finish high school with a 3.3 or 3.4 GPA, I've got one AP course under my belt and I'm probably going to get a 1400 on my SAT's.

I was kidding Milo. Never been west of Kansas City.

Just if Rick wants to make up stories, figured I could to.

No, it will not be a disappointment if we loose!!!!!!! If you would have told me in August we would be East Champs I would have said you were nuts!!!!!!!!! We are so proud of our Vols no matter what the outcome!!!!!!!!!!!! :good:

This is clearly Auburns year and everything has went their way, Theyre loaded with talent and theyre playing really well with discipline at every position and with emotion. However this game is still undecided. Auburn really has nothing to win, after they were outbid for bowling green and got stuck with the Citadel the BCS has no love for the tigers and they, (IF they win), will probably face Virginia Tech in the sugar bowl and get upset. I'm thinkin the tigers will be down because of no hope for an orange bowl bid and they'll be vulnerable. Match that with the Vols will be huge underdogs with nothing to lose thats like a gas can and a match side by side. Go Vols!

Sure sounds like you care. Well, maybe Georgia will win more next year and you can change shirts then.

And, unfortunately for your fortune-telling dreams, you only play a game once.

The score was 19-14.

Wow, what a lame thread.

Auburn may very well beat the living crap out of us. I hope that is what the Auburn players expect. If they do, they will most likely be in for a big surprise. If not, more power to them, and I hope they win it all if they beat UT. But that is still an if at this point.

So what game were you watching :censored: ... The Vols dominated the Dawgs for 3 1/2 quarters of the game.... then gave up some garbage yards at the end of the game. Did you happen to see David Greene continually eating grass all game? :bash:

I believe it was Tennessee that self-destructed (6 turnovers) against Auburn. Don't expect the same kind of gifts this weekend. ;)

However, the most disappointing thing about Auburn is regardless of whether they win or lose.... they will NOT be playing for the MNC. :yikes: That will be reserved for Southern Cal and Oklahoma.
