I'd rather not risk a life threatening injury to Dormady at this point

Will need him in the future when a real coach comes in

I say at least give Dormady a shot because we have nothing to lose at this point in the season. Also, it could prepare him for next season assuming he beats out Dobbs.
Dormady is mobile enough to escape some pressure and his arm is light years away form Dobb's arm. I know he was going up against FCS competition when he played but he still hit two beautiful passes that Dobbs would not have completed, one for a TD.
IMHO he is our future. And who knows he may surprise us this year if he's just given a chance. If he gets the offense going it will create some excitement for next year, and give us some hope. If he doesn't do well, then so what? He's just a Freshmen. I feel like we have little to no chance with Dobbs.
As far as the defense goes, there's a lot of inexperienc e and youth. I think Tuttle and Mckenzie will be studs next year.

Quinten Dormady on 6 of 9 attempts this season has thrown for 93 yards and 1 TD compared to Dobbs 53 of 91 for 557 yards and 5 TD's. If you are wondering, Dormady has passed 16.7% of 557 yards on just 6 attempts. Do you think this could be our down fall? I think it's time for Dormady to get on the field and Dobbs head for Mars. We make this change, we will be dangerous with the WR's we got!! If you are a WR recruit and you see a QB that is running a duel threat offense but the duel is one, running the ball. Would you come to Tennessee?? Butch Jones has adamantly said this is not a duel threat offense. Average passing attempts per game in FBS is 40 with 28 completions, Dobbs 13.25 with 1.7 completion %. Yes, I am a numbers cruncher and Butch needs to look further in the toy box!!

More like time for a new coaching staff

Yep, totally agree. It's stupid play calling more than the ability of the players. Beyond conservative and beyond predictable. That is why teams can adjust after a quarter or two. If you do the same crap over and over, it's not that hard to adjust.

Some will say this is dumb but its not. What do we have to lose? Also, what if QD comes in and starts lighting it up and gives the offense a huge spark that it needs? I have said it before, I think QD is a much better pure passer. Why not give him a shot?

Kinda related but can someone please explain to me why our WRs have to come out so much?

Well, I personally don't want him to play against Georgia or Alabama. This Offensive Line is straight garbage and none of them should see the field on an FCS team (putting it as nice as I can) and Dormady will be running for his life on just about every pass play. I say put him in vs. the weaker part of our schedule... Because with how bad we are now... At least we'd have the excuse of "Well, we started a True Freshman QB" when we lose to Kentucky later this year.

Butch is 14 - 16 and 12 points from being 5 -0 this year. This absolutely breaks my heart!! 7 to Oklahoma OT , 4 to Arkansas and the one that stings the most 1 to Florida. I am still on Butch's side but he has the talent that might be young but numbers don't lie....Game management and recognizing the right personnel to put on the field is SEC football!!

Dobbs passes are check downs to runningbacks 80% of the time or more. Need to throw the football DOWNFIELD

I don't think that Dobbs goes thru many reads, when he was throwing downfield he was locked in from what I seen on TV,you could see him staring at the receiver or they had it set up,to where he was only looking at half the field

Don't start QD but give him some meaningful snaps early in the game and see if we can open something up

Otherwise use sub in our second string O linemen for the WR's so we can have "real blockers" for the screens and swing passes

So do you have a new offensive line to go with that new QB? If he's not as mobile as Dobbs then the pass rush could make him look worse than Dobbs.

A QB who is more accurate and has a quicker release would be much better. Its worth a shot.

In general I think easing younger players into the lineup as the season plods forward is a good thing. Dobbs is severely limited as a quarterback and there is no consistent red zone offense. Jujuan Jennings might be worth a look as well as Dormady. Sherion Jones also deserves an opportunity in spring practice.

The WR unforced fumble and Medley's weekly botched field goal severely hurt the offense and were obviously not Dobbs' fault. Dobbs just does not seem to improve as a qb and the hurry up offense with such inconsistency puts huge pressure on a poor tackling fundamentally weak defense. The Georgia game at home should offer conclusive evidence if Dobbs can step up his game or if he is absolutely below the skill level required of a winning SEC qb.

the back up QB is all ways the go to option when things aren't working well, would I like to see him get some more snaps ? yes,but they can't get a lead and hold it long enough to play the backup,i don't understand why they have blown his red shirt status this year either,I assume that I have that right ?

I think that Dobbs accuracy problems are well know to the staff and they are keeping him in,because he can run away from some of the Offensive Lines problems pass blocking, does Dormady have the running skills to be as effective as Dobbs, when things break down and he has to run ?

It's time please bring in dormandy. this is embarrassing

Butch probably will. It will make him look like he knows how to make high-level management decisions at a SEC football school...and hopefully get a few fans on his side...until the game ends. But hey, he can laugh all the way to the bank...  :whistling:

GO VOLS!

dobbs finished the season strong and looked like a legitimate threat.

im baffled as to what happened.

when he looked like a world beater, we were playing awful defenses during that stretch. when we played even an average defense like vandy and mo. he looked terrible. the fools who thought we would win 9-10 games are what baffled me. these are the same idiots who want cbj fired now. yeah he is an awful game day coach at this point, but it is who we got for the next couple of years. he just needs to hire some capable assistant coaches and hopefully as the team gets more mature we will improve.

We have over 250 yards of offense. Offense is working.

You obviously watched a different game than I did. The last 3.5 quarters, the offense scored two field goals, no touchdowns. In the 4th quarter, when it really counted, we were three and out. Much of that was the play-calling, but a lot must be attitude. Once we get behind or the other team gets a little momentum, we fold. THIS IS A COACHING PROBLEM BIG TIME. However, it has become obvious that Dobbs is a very inaccurate passer and doesn't see the field very well, not even seeing a number of open receivers; when he sees them, he either way overthrows or throws into the ground. I don't see a legitimate passing game with Dobbs, and SEC defenses are brutal when the offense is one-dimensional.

Play calling was better tonight but still not where it needs to be as far as putting dobbs in a position to be successful passing. Better but not good enough. Tonight the big uglies on Arkansas just bent us over and had our way with us. I was afraid of this game BC of their oline! We are a good team that had played much more talented teams! Not there yet folks. Just hope our passing game get better or it's going to hurt us in recruiting. Bad.
