So Stavion Lowe committed to LSU today and I need your opinions on this.

How odd is it that UT was the first one out of the gates and strong leader for Lowe from May to Mid June. And since then, we offered and committed 4 OL who all are ranked lower. Not to mention, the #1 OL Morgan Moses is still on the board and considering UT.

Why did we offer all these OL with higher ranked guys on the board and interested?

I believe its because the coaches have been confident for a while that we will land Moses. And they probably told Lowe that there were 2 spots open, 1 spot that Foster took that Bullard turned down. And 1 spot for Moses. Besides, I can't see us signing more than 5 OL.

The big man has known Clawson since he was a sophomore, and he praises Latrell Scott in his recent article. Moses is looking for stability and playing time, both UT has to offer. And lets not forget that the offensive class thus far is gonna be one that any top OL would like to play for. Add in the fact that Fulmer is an OL himself and gonna be there all 4 years just to be safe.

If Clawson can get one of the most-wanted QB's in the nation to commit sight-unseen from across the nation, surely he can convince a guy from his hometown to travel 6 hours west to play for UT.

I think we have a better shot with Peter White than MOses.

Could be. Just like Nunes committed right after Petty, hopefully the pressure will lead to a commit from one of them soon. Besides, even if White does commit, I don't see us telling Morgan Moses no thank you. Hopefully we can get 1 of the 2 and maybe both

Maybe we have really good shots with both and UT retracted their offer to Lowe. For some reason, we dissed one of the top OL prospects in the nation, so hopefully there is a good cause

Lowe was not going to come here regardless of our OL situation. he made it known that distance would be a factor after his visit to UT. I really don't think Lowe choosing LSU had any relation to what our OL class looks like.

Not much reading between the lines. Lowe loved UT to start with because we were his first high major offer. He didn't think the distance was that bad until he visited. Moses was and will be a tough pull. He likes UT alot, but he has alot of pressure to stay instate. We wanted to take alot of OL in this class and they honestly like the guys we have pulled, though some aren't highly rated. White will definitely be a very solid pull if he does indeed commit.

Moses says he doesn't care a/b instate, but i'm not sure we get him or not. VT is pushing really hard

what what I understand the ride home killed us for Lowe. I drove from Nashville to Houston and it was brutal, so I can imagine what he was feeling.

Or maybe the staff went after these other guys because they knew Lowe and maybe even Moses are longshots and doubtful. Just looking from the other side and not through orange glasses. If they truely think they are going to get higher rated guys they are not going to take all of these committments, or these guys were rated higher by our coaches that the "gurus" have them. Just because Rivals thinks someone is better doesnt always mean they are.

Orrrr perhaps Clawson recruits who he thinks would be the best fit for our system.

Or.... maybe UT offered and signed these kids because they had solid academics and athleticism and showed them what they wanted to see in camp. OL's and DT's are very difficult to rate since they almost never play anyone who challenges them in HS.

I'd like to see White and Moses in Orange. Both look like excellent prospects. But I don't see anything between the lines here... UT offered these other kids knowing they'd probably accept and knowing that there were limited scholarships. You don't do that if you think a guy has alot less potential than another guy you might sign.

IMO, UT signed those three guys because they have the potential to be very, very good.

orrrrr we took the best guys we could get....not the best, but the best that would commit.

That doesn't make alot of sense in light of the fact that Moses, White, Lowe (at the time), and several other highly regarded OL's are/were considering UT.

Revis at a minimum probably would have still been there waiting in 4 or 5 months. Maybe Schofield too.

I am also a little confused with all the early offers and commits we got from lower rated OL. However, the ratings aren't always accurate and apparently the coaches saw something in these guys they really liked to make the offers.

As far as Morgan Moses goes, I would love to land him, but I think he is VT bound. Now Peter White, I think we do land. I actually feel like he might commit soon.

You say considering but just because we are listed or mentioned doesnt always mean they are 100% interested. White is "considering" several schools but most think hes a Vol so other teams may focus elsewhere. Lowe didnt like the drive, maybe the coaches knew that and moved on even tho he said he was "considering" UT up until he committed. Just because its in articles on rivals or wherever doesnt make it all true. I trust the coaches know a little more than anyone on here or at Rivals/Scout/ESPN.

I don't doubt any of the current OL commits at all. Schofield and Phillips both seem to be solid and gaining hype. I agree with SJT about the logic of all this. Maybe the staff offered all 3 OL at camp and didn't expect a committment so soon. And now they are in a position where they might get 6 OL commits this class. I think UT might have created a situation where they might deter Moses or White's decison because of availability.

Does anybody if we plan to move any OL to DL? This may answer so questions?

Yeah, as much as I love UT and would like to think that we have the luxury of turning down top OL talent, it's a whole lot more likely that Lowe just wanted to be somewhere close to home and that LSU fit his needs better. UT would still love to have him and any other top OL talent that's willing to come here. Let's keep it rolling with White!

White is already close to committing. I don't think his mind has been changed by our current class. Moses is the #1 OL, I highly doubt he will be scared off by a few OL commits. It isn't impossible that one or two of these guys could be used at DT, either.

KNS have Bullard #2 and Long #3 in the 2009 state rankings. I wish we wouldn't have let these guys leave the state. How does that happen with a Head Coach who played OL himself and our recent success at the position?

Bullard has some over bearing parents who pushed until he gave in. Hate to lose him but if his dad gets that involved lets hope hes not another Juicy Locke.

Long was never really into UT, his little brother is, we will see how that pans out in a few years.

Those two are not a knock on Fulmer, cant be, they tried with Bullard and had him, he claimed the Vols his leader far and away and some even said on the inside he had given them a silent. Just have to move on, we have some good ones committed and White looks to be about to jump in the mix. After that they can send all the guns blazing to Moses house and lock him up, I hope.

Not being offensive but that's kind of the opposite of what I intended to say. I think they offered those guys knowing full well that they'd likely commit.

I think Phillips at a minimum is considered a possible convert to DT btw.
