I have a friend that is on VQ and he texted me and told me that the rumor is that Dooley is trying to get Rod Garner, Kirby Smart, and maybe Trooper back in some regard. I think that this could be a good hire depending on his staff. Lets just wait and see.

Well the only reason MH hires him in my opinion is that he has conformation that his staff is going to be rediculous. I think Hamilton is going to pay the guy less that 2mil a year and hire a rediculous staff that can recruit and coach. If this does happen I will give Hammy the benifit of doubt for now. If he brings in a no name staff..................we doomed!!!!!!

Key word is "rumor". Heard a thousand the last 3 days. None have been true.

instead we get a minnow....I am truly sick to my stomach, this will set Tennessee back for 10 years. As a 72 grad I may not live long enough to see the days of my beloved Hacksaw, Kiner, and Curt Watson. This is about as poor a hire as one could imagine. He better damn sure have some strong assitant coaches because his losing record as a coach ain't cuttin it. Excuse me while I go puke!

wrong. this guy is a much better hire than Muschamp. the only reason you are sickened is b/c he is coming from La Tech and not a top school... just like I'm sure you would rather have a 5 star Kenny O'Neal than a 2 star Inky Johnson or a 3 star Dan Williams... Give me a break.

Isin't this what we just did. Hire an unproven coach because of who he MIGHT be able bring?

I love people who are so upset by this potential hire, but they don't give reasons as to why it is a bad hire. Just because we don't hire a Bob Stoops or Jon Gruden doesn't mean we are not going to get a Bruce Pearl. From what I have read this kid works circles around most other coaches in Div 1. Head Coach and Athletic Director? Incredible in my opinion.

why would kirby leave after the deal he is supposedly getting at bama? i'd take garner back in a heartbeat though...

He could be a coordinator somewhere. INSTEAD, he chose to be AD and Head coach at a smaller school.

He will do a good job for us!
