Buckeye Planet has pretty negative views about it....

Showtime, one of our resident Gator posters wrote(if it isn't you Showtime, terribly sorry)...
I don't understand Kiffin's thought process. After spending time with the Raiders, he isn't intimidating anyone. In fact, if there were anything scary about Tennessee's coaching staff it wouldn't be him, it would be his assistants. I also don't like how Kiffin is already stepping on other coach's feet. He said this about Meyer, also made some rather dumb comments about Florida, stepped on Nick Saban's feet, took numerous coaches from other SEC schools, and took a couple commits away from LSU.

Luckily, Marlon Brown has his head on straight. He's going to Georgia, committing them over Tennessee. He had some choice words about Tennessee's Ed Orgeron, too. http://spiritreplay.com/wp-content/u...0204_brown.wmv

I'm thinking Kiffin got his copy of the SEC coaches handbook, saw the first rule that states "anything goes", quit reading, and therefore never made it to the "finer points" section which you referenced.
Kiffin accuses Meyer of cheating - BuckeyePlanet Ohio State Forums

IGN CFB Boards, aka, the most sarcastic boards on the net, again, generally has negative views as well.

Random Bammer
It's easy for little Lane to talk ish when he hasn't even coached in his first game yet. Once September rolls around, his @ss will be exposed, and I for one hope that Meyer calls timeouts late in the game and hangs 80 on him in the Swamp.

Kiffin is a dumbass, he has put a target on his head.

hasnt he also made a point to take shots at bama and uga as well? hope he enjoys his trip down to hogtown, because the ride back is going to be rough and uncomfortable (with meyer's foot in his...).

Another bammer on there
Kiffin can recruit all the talent he wants. He still has to coach em up. Just ask his buddy Ed Orgeron.

Oh, and Florida is going to win by 5 TDs this fall. Good to see the UT/UF coach feud continue after Fulmer has left.

rule violation or not, add this to the many things that make Urban Meyer a grade A douche bag.

I'm not sure if Kiffen knew what kind of reaction this was going to create.

1) Either he said it meaning it, in which case he should know the rules, and understand that it wasn't a violation

2) He said it just trying to needle Florida/Meyer,

Either way he's stirred the pot

Hope he backs it up on the Field

I just don't care.

any thing he does is for this team and this fan base. no one else.

the thing people are having a hard time adjusting to is that no one has ever seen anything like this from UT.

Saban, Meyer, Miles et al have all exhibited varying levels of "prickness".

it hasn't hurt them.

the ones that should be worried are the ones that truly expected to beat FL next fall to begin with.

FL is still better than us right now. at the end of the day that will have a whole lot more to do with wins and losses than anything that' said back and forth between coaches.

I just think Miles is more of an idiot than a prick

This is exactly correct. They could hang 80 on us if we say absolutely nothing, so why not go for broke? I wish Lane would chill it a little bit, but it is darn refreshing to see a little bit of fire up on the hill.

I think he's trying to excite the fan base, he's very arrogant, or both. Not sure. He's young and doesn't really have head coaching experience. Especially in a conference like the SEC.

Anyway, rivals had an interesting article (if not already posted)....Rivals.com College Football - Kiffin's accusations create busy day in SEC (pissed off the SEC heads, UF, and a high school coach that produces a lot of D-1 talent).

Prepare to have the NCAA, SEC Admin, and some pretty strong SEC football programs as well as non-SEC schools all paying very close attention to UT. It may have been nice to just be professional and go about business in that manner. "Class" is referred to a lot on the message boards and how no one else has it but Vols.

I want CLK to make noise... but that this kind. Today, he acted like the punk that others paint him to be. Plus, I can't stand the thought of my coach having to apologize to Florida and receiving a public slap on the hand buy the SEC.

The articles are saying that Kiffin apologized to Meyer and Florida, but I never heard an apology. Saying "I'm sorry if Urban was offended by my comments" is not an apology. That's just a way of saying, I didn't do anything wrong, but I regret if someone took it that way. I don't like that sort of statement. It doesn't help anything. He should have said, "I agree that my comments were out of line. I should not have said them. I will learn from my mistakes and work hard not to make them again. I apologize to Urban Meyer and the SEC." End of story. I do think that Meyer should not have been calling Nuke during his visit, but a man ought to take responsibility for his own actions. Come on, LK. I'm behind you. I just want to see better stuff from you from here on.

Kiffin and Co will be just fine come game day.
Just trying to get under the skin early.
I predict the game will be closer than they think.
hell, we might come out with the W.

I wish he hadn't apologized at all. Who cares what Foley and Meyer think? Or Slive for that matter?

Spurrier starts out the first day Kiffin is on the job and accuses him of a possible rules violation and what does Kiffin do? He fires back at him. He doesn't go crying to Slive and ask for an apology b/c the new kid hurt my feelings.

What would Slive done if he hadn't apologized? Fine the university or Lane? Lane should have just laid down the cash and never said a word.

I have a feeling this is not the last time Kiffin calls out a fellow SEC coach.

After Hamilton prodded CLK into his gator comment when he was announced, I seriously doubt the UT administration has any problems with CLK and his comments.

Kiffin? LOL. I wonder if he will have the ass to back up his big mouth? NOT.

You know Kiffin reminds me of Spurrier in some ways. The Spurrier at Florida that is. Not the Spurrier at UCSjr. He hasn't had much to brag about since he's been in Columbia. Well, he did brag about making it to the biggest bowl in gamecock history this past year. Congrats, big boy.

I was so pissed off when I came home to see this on ESPN. What an idiot. I like CLK but he hasn't coached a single down in the SEC and he hasn't proven himself as a winner yet. Don't open your mouth until you've done something. I think this comment shows how immature he is. I hate to say this as a life-long Vols fan, but he needs to respect Florida because they have 2 National Titles in the last 3 years and we don't. Urban loves this stuff. Gives him a reason to hang 70 on us and not look like an a-hole. We all saw what he did to Georgia last year and what Florida did to LSU when that idiot talked about hurtin Tebow. I just hope we don't get beat by 50 next year in the Swamp. Why would he make a comment like this publicly? Is Nuke Richardson going to single-handely win the Florida game next year? At 5-9, 151 I think not. He'll get lit up by Spikes and Haden. And guess who is throwing it to Nuke next year, Jon Crapton. Kiffin is not starting off in the right direction with this and I can guarantee it will be unappealing to some future recruits. Kinda a punk move by CLK. Do your talking on the field.

I know I sound like a gator lover in that post; I hate Florida but I do respect them and what they've done. They're a good team.
