at the risk of incurring a raft of S _ _ T, our boy's annual NCAA football trip will take us to Tiger country. Although I would much rather be coming to Knoxville, it was not my pick this year! Any words of wisdom or hints for our trip. We're staying at the Courtyard Acadia and plan to sample as many watering holes and restaurants as we can!! :dance2:

Only stopped through Baton Rouge for a morning on my way out to CA, but Louie's Cafe was amazing for breakfast. Definitely a good college-town greasy spoon diner. It's on the edge of campus.

I love me some Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro. Not to be confused with Copeland's.

Crawfish isn't in season but if they have Crawfish Ravioli available........some good stuff right there.

Hi,
I live down here (unfortunately), but I do have some good suggestions for you. Threedollarpants is right about Louie's. Good food if you like the greasy spoon.

Chimes - Local food/college bar/restaruant. Great food, decent service. There are two of these. On of them is right off campus by the North Gates and the other is on Coursey Blvd about 20 minutes east of campus.

Mike Anderson's - Also a local place but much less collegy. Very good Louisiana food but can get a little pricey. Several locations but one about 10 minutes from campus.

Cane's - best college town fried chicken strips and fries you will ever eat. Locations everywhere.

DeAngelo's Pizza - Local pizza chain with really great food and reasonable prices. Never had a bad meal there.

Also look up these for local restaurants: Monjuni's, Mestizo's (cajun Mexican), and to a lesser extent, TJ Ribs.

Tsunami - I know it's not local, but this is some of the best sushi I have ever had outside of California. Tsunami is at the top of the Shaw Center which is in downtown BR. Great view of the river and fantastic sushi.

If you are looking for casino action, there are two in Baton Rouge (Belle of Baton Rouge and Hollywood Casino). They are both okay but both smell like 6 month old ash trays. Harrah's in New Orleans is a much better bet for the full casino experience if you are looking for that.

I'd be happy to give you more info if you want to PM me. What game are you coming in for?

Redstick gave you a good list. Chimes is right on the corner of campus, so it could be crowded for brunch on a big LSU game weekend (and even a weakened Ole Miss is still a big traditional opponent for the Tigers). "Another Broken Egg" at corner of Jefferson and Old Hammond is a good brunch place farther from campus. Chimes is great for an evening brew; but if its just the parents and not kids, The Bulldog tavern on Perkins is a good place for a cold one. My favorite lesser-known Mexican place is Casa Maria on Bluebonnet near Perkins; its not "can't miss" but its quaint and everything is good including the seafood enchiladas.

Being a Vol grad/fan in Jackson, MS is sometimes a lonely prospect.

I can't even imagine riding around Baton Rouge with the Power T on the back of my Jeep.
