Guys this is strictly hypothetical....but what if we hired Al Wilson as the RB coach? If you remember he rushed for over 2000 yards his senior year at Jackson Central Mary....I also remember the interview he gave when the media asked him his thoughts about Jamal Lewis's freshman year...and in typical Al Wilson behaivor responded by saying "if I stayed on offense you wouldnt know who Jamal Lewis was" .....I really dont care if doesnt have one ounce of coaching experience....he knows how to play and his intensity is infectious and would fit in great with this coaching staff. Plus how blown away would you be if you were a recruit and a seven time pro bowler walks in to your home or school. Maybe its just my biases coming out but it would be great to have him back on the sidelines and in the locker room

Has there been anymore word on Gerald Brown? I think he would be a nice hire and I know he has interest in coaching alongside Kippy again.

Lockdown is definitely the right man for the job. He is all knowing and all caring. His is a great role model, knows his x's and o's and is the pre-eminent judge of talent. He spotted the Rogers brothers as frauds who can't run, jump, catch, or chew gum and should never see the field. He definitely needs to be signed as the RB coach.

Especially since he has special teams experience. Also, another the possibility of another AA coach to recruit.

call me crazy but im pretty sure if you are really good at something you can teach someone else how to do it...example...I played defensive end in college...i could take anyone with any athletic ability and teach them the techniques...Al was a great running back and could teach someone how to run....plus how much coaching does a running back need?...other than a few tips its a positon that that person has been playing most of his life...there is only so much coaching you can give that position before natural ability takes over

I still would like sylvester croom here in saint louis steven jackson is the only thing the rams fans are proud of and croom really groomed him up a bit, i mean jackson has always been beastly but croom has got him second in the league in rushing yards. (He's even above AP) Also, croom has SEC experience.

Actually, he only ran for 1,000 his senior year. He was a fullback and Wesley Barlow was the tailback that ran for over 2,000 yards. Unfortunately, Welsey was one in a long line of West Tennessee running backs from the 90s that was dumb as a box of rocks or would have played college ball somewhere big.

As for the rest of it, no. I want a RB coach that has actually coached RBs before. Plus, I don't think this staff needs any help in being intense. I think they have it quite covered.

I don't think we will hear anything about the RB hiring process until the NFL regular season is over. Brown and Rathman have one more week left before they will be "available".

Not surprised about Jackson. But does STL really have any other offensive weapon?

It's not a bad idea just i think kiffin is looking for someone with more experience. But Al working with the staff is not a bad idea at all im sure there are multiple positions he could coach in the future

Anyway, I think Brown would make a lot of sense. He could really lockdown recruiting in GA and would also bring some experience and success recruiting in Memphis, a city that is oozing with talent and we continuously miss out on to other schools.

I will agree with that but then my question is: If he was such a great running back why did he play lb for UT? Was he too slow or was it something else?

As for your question of how much coaching does a running back need? I'm going to say more than meets the eye. If a rb is naturally gifted then coaching is easy but some players need additional help. Consider that some coaches seem to have a talent for making rbs better, i.e. Gran. Also UT has always had great rbs but they seemed to have a propensity to fumble at critical times. That didn't happen this year. I would say that goes back to coaching.
