$8 million for 5 years. He is as good as you can get if you don't want or can't spend the big $$$. I think he will do a very good job. If he doesn't, hopefully 3-4 years from now our athletic department will have plenty of money thanks to the success of CBJ and can hire a A+ coach. All in all, I am excited for our new coach. GBO!

I SAW VIDEO ON Donnie Tyndall, NEW COACH...IN GAME VIDEO OF COACH, I SAW MORE COACHING IN ONE GAME THAN MARTIN DID IN THREE SEASONS...VERY SMART, VERY DETAILED IN COACHING, VERY INVOLVED WITH FANS, STUDENT BODY, AND FORMER PLAYERS. VERY MUCH LIKE PEARL IN RELATING TO FAN BASE. VERY STRONG IN RECRUITING. PLAYS FAST PACED OFFENSE, HARD NOSED DEFENSE....SHOULD BE GREAT FIT

Prettty bad hire but I don't think we had many options. We got turned down by La. Tech's coach for crying out loud.

and you know this by,"your in the ten. ath. dep.,your Whites agent.or you just heard or read about it somewhere."Its better to be quite and let people wonder, then to open your mouth and let people know for sure.

Don't know a lot about him--but seems like a fairly intense, high-energy guy, which I like in a basketball coach. Look at most successful college coaches--they aren't mellow. So I'm giving this a 3.5. I think he'll be better than Martin, but of course he'll have to be able to recruit.

After doing a little reading on the guy I am going with good hire. He looks good on paper anyway. We'll see what he's got.

2006–07 Morehead State 12–18
2007–08 Morehead State 15–15
2008–09 Morehead State 20–16
2009–10 Morehead State 24–11
2010–11 Morehead State 25–10
2011–12 Morehead State 18–14
2012–13 Southern Miss 27–10
2013-14 Southern Miss 29–7

I must say, the trend is favorable.

He starts off with 3 straight NIT appearances, he won't have time to move the trend up

Riiiiight, because the first tier candidates were just beating down our door to get an offer?

Not at 1.6 mil a year. Tyndall seems like a fine Conference USA coach, but until Tennessee takes this seriously and spends real money, we'll constantly battle for 3rd place at best.

I gave it a 4. I don't think he would have been mine (or anyone's) first pick. BUT....with the lack of funds we have, and his success rate at schools that are never going to be powerhouses, but he got them on the map, I'm pretty pleased.

I think out of the options we had, and what we could realistically afford, he was probably one of the best we could do.

To spend real money, you have to have real money. This isn't Monopoly.

We are still paying buyouts for coaches.

Once those buyouts get paid out, and everything is back, then we will have the money to swing for the fences.

Unfortunately, every time we strike out and we have to pay someone to make the misery stop, it sets us back even further.

Screw Dooley.

and as I've said earlier what did you write when that second tier Bruce Pearl was hired from Wisc-Milwaukee no less?

And Tn once hired Houston because he was a great recruiter and tied to Louisville?

Can he recruit top tier players into Knoxville given the competition? that is the question to be answered.

With the level Florida and Kentucky are at we could be in 3rd place and be a Final Four contender.

A little disappointed. Was hoping for someone with more Big Dance experience, but I guess this is as good as we can get right now.

Hope he does a great job!
