All this arguing on who is better, is just bring me back to the old days. Wide Receiver U is back baby!
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not arguing who is better at all. I don’t know. Tillman brings things to the table Hyatt doesn’t. Both have incredible value. I was just wondering whether Tillman would see the ball or be the “go to” like he was before since Hyatt has emerged to be such a force. Whereas Tillman was the one Hooker would look for before, it may be Hyatt now when he’s needing important yardage. we will see. Hopefully he spreads it around and nobody will know who to cover or double. It will be a nightmare for defenses.

UGA only has 11 passing TD's??? Wow. I would've expected a lot more. I guess they've just been pounding people into submission with the run game.
YeH I thought o saw somewhere this week that he’s the SEC’s leading passer. I’m confused but gotta buy groceries so not looking it up

Everyone keeps saying Tillman is our best receiver. Is he? Is it possible that when he comes back we will find that Hyatt has surpassed him? I mean the chemistry between Hyatt and Hooker is incredible. That doesn’t just go away. There’s a comfort level there. I guess it’s possible to have Tillman as the best receiver but Hyatt as the most explosive. Either way…it’s an amazing problem to have. Two of the most dominant receivers in the country on the same team.
Hyatt is very well suited to the offense. Hell he might be the most dangerous wr. Tillman is the most complete wr though. He was Hooker’s favorite target for a reason in the past.

Tillman is likely a better overall receiver if he is back to the level he was pre-injury. Size, speed, great hands and a history of winning 50/50 balls. In pretty much every one of these categories he is equal or better than Hyatt. Still, Hyatt would likely be the primary receiver on almost every team in the country. We are just truly blessed at WR right now. Wide Receiver U is back!

Hooker and Tillman had plenty of chemistry pre-injury, It may take a few throws to get that back, but I think Tillman returning is just going to be addition to the passing game, not an either/or thing.

Pitt Game
Tillman 9/162
Hyatt 11/73
McCoy 4/58

Hooker was already splitting up targets pretty well. I think the main thing is he just throws to the open guy, and so far our OL is giving him time to find it. Tillman is just going to make a problem offense even more of a problem if you are a DC. Basically Hyatt has just replaced Tillman as the primary deep threat. Hooker's progression on most plays, especially the stacked receiver sets seems to be middle, deep, dump, run. Maybe they switch back, maybe they don't, either way, we haven't seen a defense yet that can cover 3 good receivers without leaving Hooker a ton of green grass in front of him.

Kentucky fans seem to think that their secondary can cover these guys better than Bama could, and even if that is the case, there is a certain point where if you have good receivers and an accurate passer, you can kind of throw on anyone. That's really where Tennessee is right now, and it's only going to get better with Tillman back.
Tillman’s injury has made Hooker a better QB. If you look at targets you’ll see a big difference in efficiency on Tillman (lower). As scary as it is to say, Hooker can be much better. He has still been off target. He’s sailed a lot of throws and doesn’t throw the shorter routes with the touch he needs. If he corrects this, he’ll win the Heisman for sure.

That is impressive. However the one that impressed me before the UT Martin game was that we were one of the few teams in the nation that had a perfect record in the red zone. At the time of the quote we were 33-0. If we get there, it's 7.

I’ve always thought that counts field goals too. Means every time we get to the red zone, we come away with points. Doesn’t necessarily mean TD’s.

Could be wrong though.

Actually they pass very well, they just don’t score that way. They are averaging like 40 less pass yards per game than us

Tillman is physical with speed whereas Hyatt is a speed guy,a big difference and with physical teams *secondary *in the Sec,that's what you need. Can't forget Tillman's experience either.I can't help but look at our past coaches and notice that alot of our skill guys were not utilized properly. How many times have we seen guys with low stats end up being from Tennessee making noise when they get to the NFL?

This x's 100. I have wondered the same thing and it's been this way for at least 15 yrs. Our guys don't get drafted, sign as free agents and then blow up. Now we will go back to 8
5-10 players drafted annually in maybe 2 yrs.

I think a lot of it will have to do with play calling. Every play there is a primary receiver, who the primary receiver is depends on what play is called, how the defense changes pre snap and who runs the best routes. I suspect that we will find we now have (2) #1 receivers.
Think about this we can have Tillman, Hyatt, McCoy and Keyton (or White) on the field at the same time; how do you stop that as long as HH has time to pass?

time to pass is the key. I will say so far our ol has done a great job

They have done a great job. HH has also extended plays with feet and made good decisions when he had to on the run in the passing game, as well as been an effective ball carrier. When they have tried to defend more against the pass the running game has worked.

That is correct but the numbers are like 23 rushing TD, 8 passing TD, and 6 FG iirc. Recalling those numbers from memory from a day or two ago so might be slightly off.

We are now tied for 3rd in the country with Clemson. Just behind Ohio State and Georgia. 38-39 in the red zone. I don't recall getting in the red zone and not scoring vs UT Martin but it must have happened.

Missed field goal I think.

Editing to add: It counts as a failure to convert because we were in the red zone before being backed up by a penalty. Then we kicked the missing one from around the 30 iirc.

Yep, I think you're right on that one.

I hope he's practicing with wet balls this week for better ball handling.

You know, because it might rain.

Little Gold Bond can take care of that.
