Rare Reggie White photos

First pic are the uniforms and color orange we should get back to IMO.

Reggie was THE MAN. Most dominant DL we have ever had at UT and it isn't even close. He was a combo of John Henderson, Al Wilson, and Leonard Little all rolled into one.

Hitler's dead. Should I only speak of the good he did for his community service?

Not comparing the two, just saying.

Never said he bashed UT. Said he became negative about things, like him blaming the church fire on white people.

I've always liked Reggie. My parents had a biz in Maryville that he visited numerous times and he was ALWAYS very friendly and polite. Signed an autograph for me and my brother.

Reggie was following the leadership of his pastor about the fire. If your church burned and your pastor told you that it was based on race "I bet you might believe it as well" ...

Reggie White did a lot of good things for the very financially depressed East Knoxville area... if you are going to remember something ..how about that?

As for Reggie the man, the ball player, the Vol.... He was great and a joy to watch.....

Thanks for the link OP

If you're not comparing the two than what's the point of referring to hitler?

Reggie's good far exceeded a few negative comments he made unlike hitler whose good deeds are trumped my his evil

Did anyone else have a pair of turf shoes with the orange swoosh? My mom bought a pair with the suede swoosh by colored them with an orange marker. Classic for 1983-84!

If I'm not mistaken I think Reggie was upset because the FBI was focusing on it being an inside job and were questioning different people in the congregation.

I have no problem with that if that is where the evidence leads but I think that there wasnt' much there and they kept pushing it and Reggie finally spoke out.

I maybe completely off on that.

Seems you are right about the FBI on this issue, but I was aquinted with Reggie's pastor (at that time) and do know he told them the fire was a racist issue.

My point being, Reggie was following what he was told.

I hate to post this in fear that my memory may be condeming an innocent man but am I wrong?, did that pastor not get found guilty of something concerning the fire???

It would not be close only if you omit the fact that Doug Atkins also played DL for UT.

Not that I'm saying he was necessarily better than Reggie, but he was definitely in the ballpark.

Just sayin', carry on...

all those pics did was upset me... One of my first heros....... I didnt play on the line was a quarterback but the intensity and passion he played with as well as his passion for being a god fearing man set a goal for me to strive for and I didnt make it but I work on it everyday

I do appreciate the clarification. I should have said DL who I remember playing.

Doug Atkins was the best DL ever at UT and maybe even the NFL.

He died in the same hospital my youngest son was born and where Ricky Bobby recovered in Talladega Nights. Some useless trivia.

I was working at the Dominoes in maryville when Reggie called in a pizza order. We had to call the customer back on orders as big as this one ( I am sure it was a weekend football party or something) we could not reach him at the number he provided, having took the order I told the manager if that isn't Reggie White I would pay for the pizza's. I never met him personally but admired him for the way he carried himself on and more importantly off the field. Oh and I was right about the pizza's being his :)
