rest his soul, but I never was a big fan. If I remember correctly he talked negative about the University in his later years

Reggie talked negative about a lot of things in his later years. He became really paranoid and started blaming all the problems of the world on "the white man."

Great Vol and a ultimately a good person though.

Actually he spoke about racial equality for all races to come together. Read his quotes about that. How did he bash UT? We did retire his #.

Never said he bashed UT. Said he became negative about things, like him blaming the church fire on white people.

I've always liked Reggie. My parents had a biz in Maryville that he visited numerous times and he was ALWAYS very friendly and polite. Signed an autograph for me and my brother.

Didn't some white people do it?

Thanks for posting these. Any negative comments in this thread just show how ignorant some in our fanbase really are.

Wow ! Mr. Atlanta sports, just because someone passes doesn't meen people don't have an opinion on their time here. Only judgement that matters happens when one leaves this life and that is not for you to decide. It is a message board.

Most dominant lineman I ever saw. Easily my favorite Vol defender.

(And 21 sacks in 12 games with the Eagles is the best sack per game total in history.)

That was his claim. From what I remember there was never any evidence to support it.

Don't know why everyone is up in arms. Nobody here has said anything negative about Reggie that I've read. The truth is he made a few public comments that were questionable later in his life. Doesn't take away from what he accomplished on the field or in life. Reggie was a great person. He was humble, friendly, polite, and respectful. I personally don't recall ever hearing about him saying anything negative about UT.

This. The guy was a great football player and representative of UT. More importantly, he was an even better person than football player.

I knew Reggie and his wife Sara personally, I use to work with the father of Sara and Reggie would come in to the place of business and hang out with his father-n-law, signing footballs, pictures or anything you wanted signed. One year at Christmas Reggie pulled into the parking lot in a pristine 2 door Chevrolet Bel Air and handed the keys to his father-n-law
