VA Tech now leads the country in fumbles after 2 games with 9.

5 were caused by the mighty Vol defense.

4 were caused by might Liberty Flames.

Actually, the team that played best the majority of the game did win. VT played better for 1 quarter only. You must have slept through quarters 2 through 4.

We would have likely won even without the turnovers. Shoop had made adjustments, and we had made adjustments on the offensive line and things started clicking. Would have been closer though.

But UT's O was sporadic at best. UT got and created some huge breaks. That's not a bad thing at all. But don't pretend that this was some kind of dominant effort by UT's O or even the D. It wasn't. VT had more yds per play vs UT than they did vs Liberty.

Again, there's nothing wrong with creating, getting, and taking advantage of breaks. UT did basically spot VT a quarter then out gain and out score them for the final 3.... but that won't get it done vs what's coming.

Getting 69 on one play helps your average a bit. After the 1st quarter VT couldn't make a first down until the Vols had a 2 TD lead. Last 4 fumbles just turned a 10 point win into a 4 TD blowout. Last VT TD was a parting gift from Butch's 3rd teamers.

I read somewhere that after going up 14-0 VT punted 5 times and fumbled 5 times in the next 12 possessions. We got a lot to straighten out but folks are creating a false reality in their minds on how this game went. Then again maybe I'm the one that is.

Reality is at ESPN with the play by play. Here is what VT did after the 14 points:

1 - 4 plays FUMBLE
2 - 5 plays 27 yards PUNT
3 - 4 plays FUMBLE
4 - 3 plays 4 yards PUNT
5 - 1 play 6 yards (end of half)
6 - 1 play fumble (Forced)
7 - 3 plays 0 yards PUNT
8 - 7 plays - FIELD GOAL
9 - 3 plays 8 yards PUNT
10 - 10 plays 45 yards FUMBLE (Forced)
11 - 1 play FUMBLE (unforced but Shy out hustled VT for the recovery)
12 - 10 play 79 yards TOUCHDOWN

I really don't know what game some folks were watching. It wasn't this one.
