For all those downplaying our performance against VT, consider the following facts:

VT's vaunted defense has only given up 45 points or more in regulation TWO TIMES IN THE LAST 10 SEASONS.

VT has only lost 7 games by 21+ points in the last ten years -- each time to a ranked team except once (2007: #2 LSU; 2010: #5 Stanford; 2011: #21 Clemson; 2012: #14 Clemson; 2013: #1 Alabama and #17 UCLA; 2014: Miami, FL)

Have to factor in their dozen or so fumbles.

Only one of those was during UT's 24-0 scoring streak when they got rolling and two or three of them were after the game was well in hand. At least 2 were strips by our D. But don't let that change your glass is bone dry outlook on life.

Damn I am going to have to quit coming on volnation. UT just rocked a good team set records, forced 5 turnovers and answered a 14-0 run with a 45-3 run. But when you come here all it is complaining about the oline isnt perfect or if dobbs can't run we re screwed. This fan base should enjoy the wins no matter how they come and quit acting like team 120 is the fist top 10 team to start the season with a few things to work on throughout the season.

We're going to have to stop jumping on to the fumbled balls and just let teams recover them so that our fan base will be happy with our wins.

Our D started slow then got their footing after the first quarter. They did a very respectable job after that. The O never really looked settled, and I don't mean because of the O line play. Blame it on play calling, blame it on the atmosphere, blame it on allowing the defense to key in on one player, choose your own reason. They had flashes of being a really good team slathered in between WTF moments.
I'm happy we won, especially by how many points we scored. It just feels like something isn't right within the team. Like the players aren't happy for whatever reason. Sure, after we start winning the atmosphere changes but we look flat at the start.

I think our fanbase saw too many SEC Champion / Playoff Facebook po$ts over the off season. Then came to the conclusion that we were gonna roll every team on our schedule and cruise to the natty.

First time we get the least bit of adversity(yeah I said it), they start wringing their hands and wanna fire somebody.

It would be really nice to have a "sick" side (negavol) and a "well" side (thoughtful constructive discussion) on VN, like they have at doctors offices. The whiners and complainers could all get together unabated and have a tantrum. The rest could enjoy some sane discussion.

However, all things being equal, I don't remember Florida fans talking about how bad their team was after we beat the breaks off them last year only to give the game away to them on a few lucky plays. They took their W and walked away smiling.

From a percentage standpoint, over the last 10 years there is about a 5% chance that VT will get blown out by 21+ more points in any given game. And about a 1% chance a team will score 45+ points against them in regulation. We did both.

Amen brother! Coming on here and corresponding with other Vol fans use to be one of my favorite things to do, but now it is negativity on every thread, every day.
I have said I was staying away but for some reason I keep checking back to see if something miraculous has happened and the whining have ceased?

Do you realize that our defense CAUSED those turnovers?? They attack the ball (like they are coached to do)! 5 turnovers...your defense is doing something right!

Be real. They did not cause three of the five. Yes, the Vols stripped out two. The other three were just the Hokies mis handling the ball and to say "we caused it cause we're so fearsome" just aint truth.

What is truth is that the Vols did show great awareness and hustle to get all five recoveries.

Just in case you've forgotten

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.
2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way – SCORE.
3. If at first the game – or the breaks – go against you, don't let up... put on more steam.
4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.
5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.
6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.
7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

I think we have some of the "brattiest" fans in the SEC. They whine when we we lose...whine when we win. Sometimes if you check here after a game..you can't tell if we've won or lost based on the comments!
