BTW, Lil Wayne is horrible, but oh well. I wouldn't waste the time to tear up Lil Wayne tix if they were given to me, much less drop half a honey bun to see that mess.

Great input from the guy that thinks Dave Matthews Band is a hippy jam group. You're really up to date on modern music.

From what I'm reading, you guy's need to educate me. I'm an old school "Metal Head" and have no idea what you're talking about.

What is "crunk interludes" or the "Memphis Crunkfest?" Is crunk some type of music? :dunno:

Hahaha you probably aren't too far behind most people on here in regards to Crunkfest. Crunkfest is basically a big "music" festival in the Coliseum in Memphis. There are usually about 10 acts and past performers are like Young Jeezy, Ying Yang Twins, Paul Wall, Lil’ Scrappy, Three 6 Mafia, E-40, Trillville, Birdman, etc. It's pretty crazy, and me and a couple of my friends are pretty much the only white people daring enough to go. I am very much white but we think its fun and we always talk to lots of people there who think we're funny/make fun of us.

And crunk is a term that the rapper Lil' Jon made popular though I'm not sure if he created it or not. My understanding is that it is a combination of crazy and drunk. But really it just means something is good if it's "crunk". On myspace crunk is a type of music but I don't think many people consider it that.

Thanks for the explanation. Well, I guess I could say back in my younger days I've been known to be "crunk" several times.

Do they have pits at Rap concerts? If not, I would start one. That's what I get for being a metalhead.

They occasionally do at some actually. But it's not generally related to the music. People just start shoving each other for reasons like trying to squeeze to the front of the crowd and stuff. Also you never want to accidentally graze shawties butt, that's bad news.

Sorry, I had to check. From Wikipedia:

Crunk is a genre of hip-hop music. Unlike the East Coast and West Coast style of hip hop, crunk has a high-energy and club-oriented feel. While other hip hop styles might involve a more conversational vocal delivery, crunk usually involves hoarse chants and repetitive, simple refrains. Lyrics are based on a rhythmic bounce, which is very effective in a club environment.
Looped drum machine rhythms are usually in the forefront of the mix, with the Roland TR-808 being especially popular. A typical crunk song uses four bars of music generated by electronic drums and synthesizers that repeat throughout the song, but sometimes includes a break towards the end of the song. Many of the drum machines and rhythms they produce were previously well known in specialty genres of dance music.

On a side note, I heard a new song by Three 6 Mafia yesterday called "I'd Rather" that seems to fit the musical style referenced above. Needless to say, not one for your daughters' ears.

Oh, and hope you enjoy the show. Too bad it isn't at a better venue -- the Coliseum is not known for its appearance or acoustics.

I'd Rather is a terrible, terrible song. Three 6 Mafia is my favorite rap group but that is one of the worst rap songs I've ever heard. That and Project Pat's most recent song "Don't Call Me No Mo'".

Yeah, I don't think anyone really cares. I just remembered that it was at the FedEx Forum last year. It used to be at the Coliseum though. The acoustics don't matter though, it's all bass and screaming...

Hahaha anytime I go to a rap concert it has nothing to do with the music...it's purely for the experience.

Up to date on all the best rap artists. Lil Wayne is a joke. No flow, no cadence, no lyrics, no style. In other words, he's garbage... not worth $.50, much less $50.

I've never been a Lil' Wayne fan myself, but there are a lot of people who think he's the best the grace the face of the Earth...

Since you consider yourself "in the know" who does have flow, cadence, lyrics, and style? I'm curious as to if we have the same taste in rap.
