Rap Albums?

I haven't heard it personally but some coworkers have said the new Bone album Strength & Loyalty is pretty good.
Not really... Bone Thugs' first album is an all-time great rap/hip-hop number, but IMHO their stuff since has been crap. Strength & Loyalty is easily the best album they had since then, but it's still not that good on its own merits. If you want Bone Thugs, all you need is E 1999 Eternal.

De LA Soul-3 feet high and rising
YES.

Anyone heard how the new Common album is? I used to listen to a lot of rap but I think most of the stuff out these days blows. Or maybe I'm just getting older and don't like it as much as I used to.

No DMX?!?!

I am a Tupac and DMX fan. Some Lil Wayne, Bone Thugs, and Three 6 Mafia.

From what I've heard, Finding Forever is okay. It doesn't have that nice, smooth flow that Be had. I think part of that is Kanye West's heavy involvement. It's a tad too self-important, which is hard to say about Common's music, but it seems that way. Still good music.

Birdman was arrested on marijuana charges during a traffic stop in Kingsport Tuesday. He faces charges of possession of marijuana after the cops found a pound of weed in in his tour RV's trashcan. I can hear it now- "What's the big deal officer, we threw it away?"

He and his posse should have eaten it, like in Super Troopers.

Kanye's new cd is good. Listened to some of common's new stuff and it seems fairly good. I also like Mos Def and some Lil Wayne. Tech N9ne is one of my favs he's from KCMO so not sure if you've heard of him.

Agreed, there is a band out called The Coup that is soul-infused hip-hop. They have a newer (came out last spring) album called Pick a Bigger Weapon. It tends to get very political, but it's still a helluva party album.

I got the new UGK and its awesome. I grew up on:

Tupac
Biggie
Too Short
NWA (and Dre and Cube once they hit the bricks on their own)
Snoop
UGK
Eightball and MJG
Three Six Mafia
Jay-Z (before he got way commercial)
Scarface (Never seen a man cry, till I seen that man die)
Dayton Family
Bone Thugs
etc.....

So if you like that stuff, the new UGK is for you.
