I don't see how they UGA above us...their D was horrible last year...and a new coordinator who hasn't coached college since '98

We will be much better than 10th

Heck, we will be much better than SClite. I fully expect us to be top 5 in every defensive category.

We may be thin at DT but Wilcox is creative and has a host of DE's and LB's to play with and will have a stout secondary. The only position in the back of the defense that I am worried about at all is the Waggner/Brewer combo and I think they will be solid enough and have great CB's and JJ to help cover for their mistakes.

Last I checked we still have Hughes who could be one of the best in the league. All we need is to be able to rotate a couple of guys in beside him who can eat blocks and we will be fine. A creative coach like Wilcos can scheme around personnel issues like this, especially with a plethora of talented DE's. The NYG in their superbowl year would be a good model to follow and Chuck Smith knows how to teach young guys to attack and use athleticism/leverage to beat big OL.

I think people also forget about how good Arthur Jeffrey was before his injury. I fully expect him to have stepped up and taken over the other starting role by mid-season.

We will definitely have our issues with stopping the run at times but not nearly enough to be ranked 10th in the SEC.

The three best D's (in my opinion) will be Bama, UF, and LSU.

We will be better than 10th, but not at first. We're young, inexperienced, and short on depth in a lot of places. I think that is where 90% of the thinking behind that ranking comes from. As the boys gel later in the year we will see some improvement. That being said, I hope we come out crackin' skulls from the first whistle.

I think USCe will have a solid Defense. They usually have a tough D most years, just no offensive output to help them out. I don't think that they will be the best Defense in the SEC though.

I respectfully disagree on the LSU part. Last year they had "two Eric Berrys" in Peterson and Chad Jones, but the latter left early. Then in pre-season, they lost starting LB Ryan Baker for at least several games. The DL underachieved last year. I think we would have beaten them last year and have a good chance against them this year. I see their D as mid-SEC level. JMO.

We are not young or inexperienced on D. Only thin on depth at DT.

South Carolina's D could be really good if their offense could just help them out and move the ball a bit better. I think when it's all said and done, depending on injuries, SC should be in the top 4 of SEC defenses in regards to Points allowed.

Alabama seems a bit high to me at #2. I think they'll drop off to about #3 or #4 in the league.

Ole Miss will be devestating up front, but I don't know about that secondary.

Florida will be fine on defense. The loss of Strong is overstated, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have the best defense in the SEC.

Tennessee could be in the top half of the league on defense if they can somehow mask their weakness at DT and they don't have anymore injuries.

Well at least you are a little better than Kentucky and Vanderbilt. How appropriate.

As is the case with the majority of your posts, I've had butt gas with more intelligence then the article in question.

Hey...while you're here...what's the going rate for a motel room in Columbia...with the USC player discount?

Go Vols.
