Ranking the SEC Coaches 4-10-2007 (Sporting News.com)

There is NO WAY Johnson is the 10th best coach in the SEC. He is better than Miles, Nutt, Brooks, and perhaps Fulmer. If we're strictly talking X's and O's, he's definitely better than Fulmer. Nobody gets more out of less in the SEC. He is playing against a stacked deck by coaching at Vandy. The guy makes a great point...if Johnson coached at UT, no way he loses to Vandy. In fact, I wish UT would hire him if Fulmer retires. Not that our AD would "stoop" to hiring a Vandy coach, but he should.

As for Fulmer, 8th is probably too low considering his accomplishments. He's got to be considered in the top 5 in the SEC.

TSN is quickly becoming a laughing stock publication with this lunatic and Mike DeCourcy writing for them.

By the way, Fulmer is 4-1 against Johnson with the average MOV being 20.4 ppg.

Richt is 4-1 against Johnson with the average MOV being 19 ppg.

I guess Johnson is better than Richt, too.

Bobby Johnson is 15-43 at Vandy in 5 seasons.

The 5 seasons prior to his hire, Vandy was 15-40.

Yeah, he's reallllllllllllllllllly bringing them along.

I've met Bobby Johnson and spent a good deal of time with him one time. He's a super nice guy and might be a great X and O coach, but I don't think he could motivate me to jump from a burning building much much less to play a football game. Dude takes bland to whole new level.

Jeez, this gets better and better. As I said, from 2002-2006 (Johnson era), Vandy is 15-43. The pre-Johnson 5 years of Woody they were 15-40.

Now, from 1992-1996, that 5 year span, Vandy went 18-37.

I mean seriously, it's become trendy to say Johnson is better than the bottom tier, but he's just not.

My favorite is the "He does more with less" argument. He doesn't do more . . . and despite the stringent academic requirement, part of the reason he has less is because of his lack of bringing in talent. They act like nobody with stingent academic requirements ever wins 6 games.

Perfect point!

Johnson, may in fact, being doing less with more, in terms of his predecesors at Vandy. It just shows how some people (not all, not even most), just say whatever they think is right without spending the time to KNOW what is right.

i doubt his predecesors had a cutler type QB too.

well i hate those rankings anyway, the only reason saban is ranked as number one is all the hype and hes coming back from Miami, and the fact that in baton rouge he is a God. i dont know, maybe its just the fact that i have been dealing with students all day long,
