I was pleasantly surprised with what we pulled in, so I was surprised to see this ranking. Is that correct?

We’ve been ranked pretty high last few years and it didn’t work out so good. Maybe this is the way to go.

Well top 5 and top 10 classes haven’t given us much in the past few years. So 44 with some surprises is almost refreshing.

This is not “the way to go,” for goodness sake. We just went through a crazy coaching search. Perspective is important. At this late in the game, filling team needs, holding onto current commits, and trying to land a few big ones is about the best we can expect.

Look for us to move up by final signing day. If not then I will start to have ligitimate concerns about the staff.

We started the day at 54th on 247, right now we're up to 26th with only 16 recruits and a long way til February. Great job by Pruitt and staff so far.

I bet we get at least 1 and possibly 2 5 stars by February. What we have committed now is a miricale for 1st time head coach, 1st time lost every sec game, 1st time athletic director fired while trying to hire a coach, 1st time early signing period and CJP has only been on job under 2 weeks.

Up to 26-27 range currently. Currently leading for 3-4 more 4 and 5 star players. Rankings are fun but ultimately mean very little, as evidenced by this year's team. Still, I predict we'll end up around the 10-15 range by signing day. I think we'll pull Petersen and Copeland. Stuart would amazing and be the cherry on top of this class. If we pull those 2 and Stewart, along with the JUCO OL that are trending to us, we'd finish top 10, imo.

You Brain Surgeons drive me crazy.
We went 0-8 in SEC with a Bunch of Stars in Butchies high rated recruiting classes. What did CBJ do with his top rated Blue Chip classes.
Recruiting services and rating services serve their pocket book and that's it.
I don't care where we are rated. I don't care how many blue chippers we have.
Our recruits need to get on campus. In class. In the weight room and start to work. You supposed VOL fanz will have plenty to b***h about later.
l don't know what you expected in 2 weeks after at month long cluster..........Get over it. Support them or move on.

Don't forget Griffin.

I’m happy with what Pruitt has done so far. Long time between now and February as well. If he can get us in the top 15-25 for this class with a surprise or two along the way, I would be happier than a pig in crap.

New coach has a few days to pull a class and people are surprised? We have been a dumpster fire for a decade. These kids think we have been ****ty the whole time they have been alive. This will take time.

Agreed, Boise State went bowling again this year. They somehow find a way to play good football, beat teams the pundits say they shouldn't. They think they've had a great recruiting year if they get more than 2 or 3 four stars. We went 0fer in the SEC with two 5 stars on our DL one of which was rated as the #1 player in the country at one point.

I have always been meh about ESPN recruiting rankings, but they got Trey Smith right so whatever. Anyways, I think today was pretty solid for us. We did not get a lot of "elite" guys per se, but to be coming off our worst season in program history and a new coach, we did alright. We filled a lot of needs and regained some momentum. I think that alone will at least get the attention of some elite recruits and have them thinking about Tennessee. We will finish strong in February. I fully expect us to add JJ Peterson and at least one elite CB too.

Regardless, Pruitt has done a great job for only being our head coach for 13 days. It seems we have a hard working staff that the players/recruits respect. That'll pay off for us come February. Of the 12 signees today, 6 were new guys targeted by Pruitt and staff. We're ranked 26th by 247 and 28th by Rivals. We will finish with a Top 20-15 class.

whats left ? Anyone good ?

Plenty good. We're leading for one of the top outside lb in the nation, in very good shape with a 5 star db from cali, Copeland the wr from fl. We will make some noise by February. I think we'll end up with the te Beal from Louisiana who our staff is looking at as a de as well.

"Like I said earlier, I think Tennessee signs around 24. Hope to lockdown a more finite number heading into the new year.
Think UT is done at TE. Top targets include Nikko Hall (WR), Jahmir Johnson, Johncarlo Valentin (OL), JJ Peterson, Quay Walker (LB), Olijah Griffin, Eddie Smith, Issac Stuart (DB).”

Simonton

We are sitting at 16 right now, but at least 2 of those commits are heading elsewhere. Pruitt will have about 10 more spots to fill by Feb.

If we are 26th with just 12 signees, we should be top 15 by the time we get 20 signees.

Alontae Taylor hasn't signed yet either.

I expect 25-30 signees depending on early entry, JJ, etc.

We can’t go 30 anymore...no backcounting.
