SEC East

1. Florida
2. Georgia
3. South Carolina
4. Kentucky
5. Vandy
6. Tennessee- After losing popular position coach half of the class transfers to Sewannee

WEST

1. LSU
2. Auburn
3. Alabama
4. Ole Miss- Coach O recruited some serious talent
5. Arkansas
6. Miss State

what is the over under on these threads before the last week of August? 35?

I think you are being a little harsh on UT finishing last in the East, lol. But put them third, and I can go along with the rest of it.

While UT does return a lot of linemen and a decent running game, you lose your senior QB. That will hurt in the big game against UF, especially so early in the season.

You thought UT play calling was too conservative in the past? As the song goes, you ain't seen nothing, yet.

I dont know why... Im just not sold on Florida being so good next year. Tebow and Harvin are great but their defense is going to have to get better or it's going to be 8 wins again for them.

East...

UGA.... Loaded.. lots of talent that wont be Fresmhen
Tennessee... Lots of returning starters. Still need playmakers.
Florida... Great offense... still need defense to win the SEC
USC... Good Defense returns but offense still stagnates
UK... they'll replace Woodson... coaching is solid... it's still the SEC-E
Vandy... They're still Vandy

West

LSU... Reloading... phenomenal talent. Losing Pelini will hurt
Auburn... Borgess gone... new look offense
Miss St. Solid Defense.... no continuity on offense
Bammer If they didnt have JPK, they'd be higher
Ar-Kansas Dmac,Nutt, O-line depletion... no way
Ole Miss Shoulda kept Cutcliff morons.

I think you are correct in your East picks. I am not so sure about the West. I don't think Miss St. will get the breaks they had this year, next year. Sadly, I do agree with your Bama observation. If JPW is starting next year Bama may break .500, but I won't hold my breath.

Florida and Georgia have to be listed as 1 and 2 in the East and then probably Tennessee 3rd. People keep talking about Floridas defense being week but they are going to be stronger next year as is Tennessee and Georgia. If Tennessee can fatten up the D-Line, I look for their defense to be tops in the SEC next year. If Crompton pans out, our offense will be effective enough to allow us to compete for the SEC crown. Next year will be like this year in that the East will be wide open and unpredictable. With all of that said, I think Tennessee will win the East and play Auburn or LSU in Atlanta for the title.

I pray to God you are right. I just think Tennessee's schedule will be tougher next year.

If Miss St. had a QB, I'd put them higher than that. Their defense was underrated this year and put into really bad spots by their offense, which as it turns out was really not that bad if they had a more experienced field general. Carrol showed flashes but was just too inconsistent because he is a freshman. I think they will win at least 8 games next year based on the style of offense they run combined with their defense. They got to find someone to coach their receivers too. They ran horrible routes and dropped too many balls in '07. But then again, it's hard to build chemestry with 3 different QB's taking snaps last year... we'll see.

The Bammers... They are getting good talent now which isnt going to show till next year probably. JPW looked great against us but that is as good as that kid will ever play football... ever. Just too much Jekyl & Hyde with him. If yall ever find a real running back, you'll be tough to beat.

Miss St has had a good D for the last few years and as you pointed out it is their pitiful O that hurts them. Dropped balls are tough, but that could be from the ever changing QB situation there.

As for JPW, well... take away DJ Hall and he is not even average. I guess there is a chance we see him inprove his senior year, but based on his lack of growth as a QB the last two years, I doubt it.

Personally I am looking forward to watching UT next year. The coaching change may hurt, but the SECCG game should give UT some additional character (not a slam) to build on. I would not be surprised to see a rematch of this year's SECCG next year. Well, maybe Auburn will make it instead of LSU.

Auburn is another team Im just not sold on. They might get to #2 in the west.... it'll be a tussle between them and Miss. St. I just dont think they stack up well enough against LSU to take the West. Im just curious to see how good Kodi Burns is gonna be... if he plays well, they'll make a good season out if it, if not, State will take them.

But then again... crazier things have happened... reference the entire 2007 season.

The east is up in the air between GA/Fl/TN we are not as far off as some may think. FL plays two decent games to start off we both have a bye before the game in knox we will see what happens. GA has a bye before us though.

Fla will not finish 3rd next season in the East. They'll for sure beat Phillip (0-3 against Meyer) and Ga only beats them every blue moon.

UT and UF return roughly the same number of starters and their offense carried their D more so than UT's did. It all really does depend on who the new OC is and what they can do with an O that returns 18 out of 22 on their two deep... including their top 7 OL's.

I think we're 3rd at best in the East next year - very possible we'll finish fourth if Auburn, Ala & SC were to beat us.
Yeah... but did you think they'd finish first this year with what is not very arguably a team with lower potential than the one they'll have next year? What was your prediction with about 6 games left concerning their chances?

As someone said, it takes defense to win the SEC. UGA loses more on D than UT or UF. UT and UF lose about the same... and they play in K'ville.

The SEC should come down to the East. The East should come down to the UF v UT game... and that game should come down to whether Chavis solves his DL problems.

BTW, UGA's West schedule next year is Bama, LSU, and Auburn... IOW's... they ain't winning the East. Aub and LSU are away games.

UT gets a little tougher draw than UF: UT- Bama, Auburn, MSU.... UF- LSU, Ark, Ole Miss

I think I remember seeing that several teams have a bye prior to facing us. GA/Fla and at least one more good team. May have been Auburn.
