Glad to share. Thanks we all appreciate the support! Thanks to the vets too before us, built the foundation for today. Before y'all the military was frowned upon.

Kinda like a new coach taking over a program trying to rebuild it I guess you could compare the two very similar.

Go vols!

Thank you for your service.

My dad was in Vietnam and he witnessed this first hand when he arrived back home. I can tell he is still a little bitter about it to this day how he was treated when he came back.

Thanks for you service and protecting our country and our rights.

This story makes me want Randy Shannon as our d-cord a little more. It's nice to know that some coaches would do stuff like that.

I want to be the first to thank you for your service to the country and reminding us there are much more serious things we need to worry about then who the next coach at our favorite program might be.

All gave some........some gave all.

I see this all the time and it is sad how far we have fallen as a country. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs and non interventionism (See Thomas Paine's Common Sense).

In fact the military is doing everything but defending the United States, securing U.S. borders, guarding U.S. shores, patrolling U.S. coasts, and enforcing no-fly zones over U.S. skies. Defending is non interventionism.

You can quote separation of church and state all day but the US government funded christian missionaries early on. Ask yourself how much better the world would be if we had continued that practice with just one-tenth of our military budget? You may not be a christian but you have to admit Jesus was a good guy who wanted nothing but good in this world.

We need to stop the borderline "worship" of the military and start thanking those that give their lives to true freedom from hunger, illness, ignorance and sin. Next time try thanking a preacher, doctor, non-profit volunteer/worker at a charity, teacher. Most of these people are working for the greater good not taking a side in a conflict.

Typical response when you have nothing to say that disproves my point.

Commie!

You are either with us, or you are against us. If you truly feel that way, move your tree-hugging butt to France. They have an open border.

This board is about football at the University of Tennessee.

Ignorant response. Why is the solution for me to move instead of getting this country back to the way it was intended?

Then why are we obsessing with thanking a "service man" instead of discussion the football part of his story?

All I did was post a photo of the coaches that went on that tour and said 'Thank You for your service'. Is that obsessing?

Still didn't answer why...

Educate yourself read Thomas Paines Common Sense and read Major General Butler's War Is A Racket. I am not a "commie" just believe that there are much better answers to war. I am not against defending our freedoms but imposing our will. If you think that you are smarter than Jesus Prince of Peace then by all means continue to support war.

I'm not smarter than Jesus...I just work for a defense contractor.

As a current service member, I dont expect anyone to support any war. But, at the same time would like everyone to support the sacrifices our service members make. Remember, we do what we do so that you can voice your opinion.:)

Great story and shows something of the character of the coach many are hoping comes to Big Orange Country.

I have great respect for our men and women in uniform and appreciate your service.

Thank you,

Dick:)

the OP was not searching for support of himself, but free men and women can choose to support him if they so choose.

99% of our men and women in service have no decision over whether we send them to combat or what they go to combat for. They have jobs to do and, when asked to do so, they are the butt-kickingest army on the planet.

They put their behinds on the line to protect your right to give us crap here, and to protect our right to support them.

Im not a war monger. But I support the men and women in our military because
1) they do a crappy job on a daily basis
2) they put their tookis on the line on a daily basis
d) because I can

Thanks for posting. You are a great american. I mean that, I really do.

They go where they are told to go,do what they are told to do,no matter how
dire the situation,no matter the odds... put in that situation by some moron you probably voted for...

so have a cup of coffee, study some more philosophy, and STFU and thank a service man, because when the chit hits the fan,I guarantee you'll be looking for one to protect you then...

Sir,thank you for your service and all you do... and GBO

That's pathetic. You're pathetic.

Great story and thanks for sharing...
A big thank you for putting your life at risk every day so cowards such as Volfan1212 can exercise their right to free speech.
