“We had good players and good coaches,” he said. “Coach Fulmer established a culture that believed we were going to win and we did it for long enough that when we went on the field to play somebody that the other teams believed we were going to win.

“I hope Tennessee gets back to that, just not the second week this year, but Tennessee has a great tradition and the period through the 1990s and early 2000s was a really special time and it was a lot of fun. I don’t know if any of us knew truly how special it was when we were going through it.”

I wonder if he looks back on sailing that ball over Terence Cleveland's head.

I like Sanders as a person but just not as an offensive coordinator, that 2005 team that started the downward trend was absolutely stacked and I still believe he was one of the chief culprits in our undoing. Not trying to be a jerk, just don't think he was a quality coordinator

The downward trend actually started in the second half of the 2001 SEC Championship game.

I mean downward as in no longer being competitive to the point where 10 wins was a rarity. After 2001 we were trending down but we were still generally one of the best 15 teams in the country throughout that period

It is nice to hear things about the past. It really is. This is not the off season though.

I would like to hear about this team right now.

I hope our fan base, leadership, and presidents have learned from the mistake of sending fulmer to the curb.

I do not want to start another long debate about if he should have been shown the door or not... I want to our fans to be supportive of our current staff and be good fans.

GBO!
