Where's TP? He's a hockey fan so he should be able to guess at least some of the NHL teams.

The FIFA World Cup starts soon. Eight countries have won the World Cup since the start of play in 1930. Can you name those 8 countries?

Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy, England, Spain, Germany.

Not sure on Germany, but it seems like they must have won at some point.

Brazil has 5 WCs, Italy has 4, West Germany has 3(they never won as a unified team), Argentina has 2, Uruguay has 2, and Spain, England and France each have 1.

The best the U.S. has finished is third in 1930.

Six currently active NHL teams have won Lord Stanley's Cup 5 or more times. Can you name those six teams?

The teams are: the Montreal Canadiens, the Toronto Mapleleafs, the Detroit Red Wings, the Boston Bruins, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Edmondton Oilers.

The New York Rangers have 4, so are currently playing for #5. After the OT loss in Game 2, it's not looking promising.

Montreal has won the Stanley Cup more times than any other team, and it's a wide margin. They've been champs 24 times. Toronto is the next closest with 13. Detroit has 11. Everyone else is single digits.

Of the sixty something times the NBA championship has been contended, it's been won by the Lakers or the Celtics 33 times. I think combined they're just a shade under winning half of the championships.

FTR, Celtics have won the Championship 17 times, the Lakers 16.

What's unique about the Lakers is they've lost in the finals 15 times, one less time than they have won. The Celtics have only lost 4 times. So when Boston gets there, they normally get it done. The Lakers have been there alot, but it's even odds if they can take it home.

I find it odd that for the first 18 years of the NBA Chamionships they did not name an MVP. If they had, I wonder how many times Bill Russell would have won it? Jordan has the most with 6. I would think Russell would have more.

After Jordan, Magic, Shaq, and Tim Duncan are tied with 3 apiece.

I read a lot. Especially about sports. For some reason my brain retains information that will never help me in life. The things I need to remember I generally forget in five minutes.
