Never knew cremation cost so much. I think I'll request they just strap a few sticks of dynamite to my ass after I die and ka-blooey.

It has gone up in cost as the number of families who choose it increased

Numbers have nearly tripled in last 10 years

That's what I thought the great increase in price was due to. Doesn't cost anymore just more people want it. Probably the best time to rip off someone, when they're grieving.

So, what is the cost for this? $100-$200?

Seeing we don't have our own crematory that is the largest cost, but guess you have to consider cost of removal, urn , container, viewing, permits, dc's and such I would say 7 -8 hundred

Odd, Utah was doing it for $500 a few years ago. But, may not be much demand out there.

No has more to do with Utah state regulations I would guess .... We did it for around 700 about 15 yrs ago .... But the market is certainly driving the cost today

Of course I don't set the price

I am on mobile and having difficulties getting to particular post .... But I am a member of the South High Facebook page

Cool, I'll start stalking you there. My brother is on there sometimes. He might be closer to your age. On another related note, I met a guy where I work out that lives on Lenland off of South Haven. We talked about a lot of thing in the old days and came around to the Handy Dandy on South Haven. He told me they make great sandwiches in their deli so I'll be checking that this week sometime.

Another thing that has driven up our cost is the fear of wrongful cremation and being sued ..... One case and we stand at risk for several million law suit

Blah, blah, blah. I'll cremate myself when the time comes. I mean, seriously, it's a little lighter fluid and a match or two. i can do it for $2.00.

Takes a tempature of 1500 to 1800 degrees to burn a human body, and the bones don't burn .... They are crushed

We lived about 2-1/2 blocks from Handy Dandy back then. Corner of Earl and Oak Grove. It's driving me crazy that I can't think of the guy who ran it then. Young kid. His Dad ran it but died after getting kicked in the head by a horse he was loading into a horse trailer. And, it just came to me. Alan was his name.
