Random Thoughts XXXIII

What I learned from today's doctor's visit:

Things seem to be early stage, so right now, even though they can't determine a cause for the cirrhosis, meds and tests will be the order of business.

Hopefully, the endoscopy procedure tomorrow will give them more to work with.

I've been given a med to lower the ammonia levels in my blood. Apparently, too much ammonia ties in with something that makes you mentally unstable. Most already consider me mentally unstable, so I'm not sure how they would know the difference.

Even though it's a "down the road" thing, I was told should it reach a point I need a transplant, the three closest places are Birmingham, Vandy, and Cincinnati. I refuse to consider any place in Bama because, let's be honest, would any of you trust a Bammer for a major surgery? So that means Vandy or Cincinnati. God willing, I never reach that point.

I have to stop drinking. When my doctor said this, in my head I was saying "no **** Sherlock", but I made sure the words I spoke were much kinder. Seemed pretty self-explanatory when they said "cirrhosis of the liver" my alcohol days were over, but I guess they have to say that for the dumbasses. I will miss LITs and the occasional shot of whiskey though.

Sometimes life knocks you down. I'm not gonna cry about it. All I can do is let things play out. But that's the current update. Thanks to all for the well wishes, kind thoughts, and prayers.

weez, thanks for the update

Weezy, you wouldn't be in the zone if you were totally mentally stable. If it comes to a transplant, I'd think about Vandy, fer realz. Hoping it doesn't come to that. I'm in your corner, bud.

good luck weez. Stopping drinking isn't such a bad thing.

And the world is going to end soon so don't concern yourself with a future transplant. Plus, 27 has one or Comp can go across the border and get 3 for the cost of 1.

I'll put away my usual idiocy to be for real.

Prayers as you continue to fight whatever health problems are in your way. Love to hear you aren't gonna let it knock ya down for good.

Stay strong man.

how old are you

Physically, I'm a month away from 40.

Spiritually, I'm 518.

Emotionally, I generally range from 6 mo. to 8 yrs. At least according to the women I've known. :)

Scope is this afternoon. Know it's a pretty routine procedure but still has me nervous. I hope they use some good drugs to knock me out. Since I have to stop drinking, some good pharmaceuticals is the least they could do.

I recommend Demorol or it's friendly cousin mepergan fortis. :dance2:

Stopping drinking would suck for me. I can have the truck loaded with coolers and head across the border ASAP. I'll get one of everything so you can pick what you need. Let me know.

Opiates are worse on your liver than alkyhol. Enjoy the Michael Jackson cocktail. Fentanyl and Propofol. Boon!

I'd trust Drbock...

Sorry to hear about all of this Weezer. I'll be praying for you.
