SDV, time to put your negotiating skills to the test. Before you agree to a move, make sure you negotiate with the wife on number of UT football games you get to come to each year. Start high, settle for no less than two, try to get three.

Good plan

nice to see you sdv. Honestly, I didn't know if you would stay. Something to be said about San Diego. As much as I like it here, it'd be tough to move from where you start your family. My first home where I grew up isn't home anymore. Home is where we had our first house, kid, pets, etc. Hard to go away from that.
At least you won't wonder about moving back. I admire that. Try it and if it doesn't work out, make the best of it and carve a new path. Better to try and decide it didn't work than wonder for 3 decades if it would have.

You are exactly right. Coming back here, although I love it, I kinda feel like an outsider. I've been gone for 12 years. You can't ever really go home again. I am at least glad I came here and gave it a shot. I will no longer have the wonder of moving here. Not for sure gone, but looking that way

JMO, but I think guys can find happiness just about anywhere as long as they enjoy their job. Location seems more important to women. If your wife really wants the move, then it's probably best for your family as a whole. Happy wife makes for happy kids which ultimately benefits you.

(Just don't forget to negotiate the UT games in advance.)

(And make sure to throw in a post season stipulation for football and basketball. If we ever have a chance to play for a NC, make sure you have the option to go.)

I totally agree about living anywhere. I can pick up and move with no problems.

Regarding UT, she already knows the importance of this to me. We got married in April because she knew I wouldn't get married during football season and none of my friends would come.

If I move, I will continue to fly in for at least one game a year, and its already been negotiated that any decent post season bowls are a guarantee.
