A much as it pains me because I hate the guy, but Pujols? Now Votto.

Holliday, McGwire, Edmonds, Rolen, Molina. Not Hall of Fame names, but legit players. And now he has that atrocity of an Angels roster.

Votto has a solid - not special - lineup. We'll see what the Reds do going forward.

So are you saying Ruth didn't benefit from Murderer's row? Mantle had Maris. McGwire had the bash brother (and PED's). The big boppers had protection.

Raines had a different style. Lead off guys who hit for average can thrive anywhere (hence Ricky Henderson).

Plus, it is hard for anyone to standout offensively at first base. That's where you stick the guys who can't play defense but can hit for days.

You didn't address my question. You simply gave a 101 baseball line-up history lesson. Murphy isn't a HOFer. He's not even close. I assume you checked his stats against current HOF first basemen. After seeing those stats, I assume you decided to turn this into a battle of line-ups. This is silly but it's still fun. Make another excuse. Try pitching, brah.

I was just referring to gifted offensive 1st basemen. Who can also play defense at the highest level.
