You can do either. I have never heard of any harm taking it with anything else. You should try it. They make tablets and also lozenges like cough drops. I use both whenever I have any signs of a cold coming on and it usually knocks it out pretty quick.

You can also try emergen-c to get a vitamin c boost to help your immune system beat that cold out.
