That's why you chose the username ain't it? Make them think twice before they ever ban Jesus.

Nobody ****s with the Jesus.

I never got to go up to NorCal on my own time. The closest I ever got was going to the Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport right outside of Yosemite. Beautiful, but 15+ mile hikes while climbing from 6000 to 11000 feet above sea level probably made me more unappreciative of the views than I should have been.

The redwoods are one the most beautiful places on the entire planet. If you ever get the chance go from San Fran up to Crescent City and then head towards Grant's Pass, Oregon on the 199. That trip is an epic that every person should do before they die. But yeah, coming from sea level and doing that sort of training at those elevations would suck. Yosemite is alright, but I always thought it would be a larger area than it really is.

Those guys look unhappy.

I'm pretty sure that was when we first got there and were still trying to get acclimated. It was an ass kicker at first. Hiking was one thing I was always really good at tho, so I fared better than some. No brag.

Quick question about your training. Did they teach you the rest step? It may seem like a strange question, but when I was a mountain guide it seemed like I had to literally teach people how to walk uphill or they would be miserably fatigued. Especially, at higher elevations with pack weight.

No, they never taught it, but I think it's something that you kind of learned on the fly to help yourself out.

To me, hiking was always more mental than anything. It's essentially just walking, all you have to do is keep telling yourself to take a step. I fell back in one once and I told myself I would never do that again, and I never did. I sprained my ankle so badly during one hike that my foot turned black the next day, but I still finished.
