There is not a better pre-workout meal on earth than a rib eye with some diced potatoes!

Also, if you are anemic, they provide a good natural source of iron!

I was about to say. Potatoes don't have a tremendous nutritional value.

They are a great source ofVitamin C which strengthens the immune system, acts as an antioxidant which reduces the risk of heart disease by preventing cholesterol from oxidizing in the bloodstream. Also they are loaded with B6. High in carbs, but carbs arent really that bad if you lead an active lifestyle

See. Told ya'll. Taters are amazing.

But it doesnt count if you load it with sour cream, butter, lard, pig, cheese, or any other fatty ****. Reminds me (not talking about you here) of this chick in my office who is on a diet. She eats rice cakes for snacks, which would be great if she didnt put melted cheese on them.

Well, I take the nutritional along with the fatty **** b/c I am not on a diet and I am fairly active. So it evens itself out.

My heart probably hates me.

They have a very high glycemic index. It causes high insulin spikes. Eaten along with other unhealthy foods leads to diabetes. You ever get really tired in the middle of the day? That's when your high insulin levels crash after eating food that makes it spike. Name of the game is to keep your insulin levels even throughout the day.

Basically all my same thoughts. :highfive:

Mine too...................when I think about the **** I have eaten over the years and the damage it has done to my ticker, it really scares me a bit. By the way, I wasnt implying that you need to watch what you eat or anything, the convo just reminded me of this chick in our office.

Oh no doubt, but potatoes on their own (proper portions) have a great health benefit. Sweet potatoes and better

Do not let this man fool you into believing potatoes will give you diabetes! What he means to say is lots of potatoes, combined with other foods that are much less healthy, will give you diabeetus!

It's okay. I appreciate you looking out for my health. I really try to eat a variety of things but I just can't resist carbs and dairy. Won't get Osteoporosis so there's that.

The last part is correct. Just because you look healthy doesn't mean you are. I'm not the healthiest looking person, but I can out run, out train healthy looking people who don't eat and exercise correctly. Even people half my age.

Ive only been on a health kick for the last year or so. Before that, I was probably the poorest eater I knew.

Lol. Challenge accepted.

No, you're right. I can run but you would kick my ass in crossfit. I do, however, look better in a dress though that's probably debatable.
