Sorry. Dry casks are where we pull spent and cooled fuel rods and store them in the big canisters.

It is pretty safe for the most part. The spent fuel rods spend years cooling in pools and then they are pulled out for storage on site. We used to ship them out to Nevada to bury underground, but that stopped several years ago. So now we pile them up in those canisters on site to clear room in the pools. They are filled with helium and are completely shock absorbant.

I know, my thoughts on that type shiz is we don't know 100% about stuff like that. Like in 10 more years, we'll be like, oh we didn't know the radiation could affect us or the environment that way. We know how to fix it know. Just things we truly don't know how to control and contain!

I understand. There are great efforts made to make sure the public and environment are safe. I just try and do my part to make sure the world around me is safe and collect my pay check. More importantly I try and make sure I can come home in the same condition I went to work. Radiation is low on my list of my concerns.

And don't get me wrong that you or the public should be worried. Because they shouldn't be. I simply meant that radiation is the least of concern in what I do on a daily basis in my job.

Damn, just had to write today's date on something and it hit me like a ton of bricks that today would've been my Dad's 56th birthday. Can't believe it's been 3 years since he passed away.
