I just know that outside of football he is not well liked there. I know when I lived out there I never heard any love for the guy which kind of came unexpected. I figured they adored the guy.

middle son is trying to dodge school because of the TCAP testing that starts today. I'd like to go meet with the admin and ask them why they don't have a better plan to not freak these kids out. You don't help prep a 10 yr old by making him nervous about 5 days of testing. You prep them and build confidence. He makes good grades, but is a nervous wreck.

The teachers freak the students out because the teachers are nervous. The teachers' are only assessed by the test scores anymore. TCAPs are garbage IMO.

it's nuts. It's all about the scores. The elementary and middle schools my kids go to are really highly ranked in the state each year. They are public schools, but the whole year seems to be focused on these test scores and they don't like it if your child is lacking in an area. My son doesn't care for social studies. It bores him. He gets all A's and a C in SS. Next thing you know, they want us to talk with his pediatrician about "focus" issues.
I met with the teacher and principle and asked them why the hell they are suggesting my son see a doctor about focus issues when he is a straight A student outside of one class that has a different teacher. Then I asked them to address the teacher issue rather than suggesting I put my son on some "focus medication" because he doesn't give a flip about mesopotamia. Then my wife gave me the look and I didn't say anything else.

I had the same problem in school and my parents would get so mad at the school. All they ever did was go over material and then give us a multiple choice question test. I was awful at standardized tests and even though I learned the material, it didn't translate into my grades.

I'm not a parent, but it's gotta be great to be told how to parent your kid.

My oldest has been stressing for the last 3 weeks about TCAP's. Today is that last day for the tests. He has said that everyone one has been easy.

I think the teachers freak out because they realize how many of their students they should have worked harder with.
