So, we have a hot chick posting in the Emdzone, huh? I think we discussed meeting before the Akron game. I did send her an email while on the strip. Probably should have tried a wee bit harder to contact her, in restrospect....

So I just realized this camp I'm going to is only for the top 20 players from the Chicago regional camp and non-qualifiers that get an invite. I get to guard one of the top 20 PG's in Chicago. Awesome.

ok, so Im mosty out of the loop. Who are you hearing from? I read something about Trevecca (which is a good education btw), but are there others? Is that last resort, and you have something bigger you are working on?

I got hurt and couldn't play for my high school team, so I'm going to school online. Got cleared by a doc to start sports again and this is my first camp. I can go anywhere I want academically, I just know I'm good enough to potentially get a scholarship somewhere.

So are you hoping the camps will get you more exposure/offers?

That would be awesome indeed. "To be the best, you have to beat the best."

There are a billion dudes out there that can shoot the rock, and run plays, and play a little defense.

Heart is what sets people apart. It takes heart to put in the extra work, to get yer but out of bed and shoot when the gym is empty, to run when everyone else is going home, and beat the azz of the dudes that everyone else is watching.

Good luck man, I hope you do well. I wish we had PMs here, cause every once in a while I happen to have connections.....

I've definitely never been a slacker. Lost 40 lbs, taught myself to dunk, got fast. I work every single day. I just look at it like this, if God gave me the ability to get up and get better, I should go do it. Some people don't have that opportunity. The Trevecca coach told me to call him and schedule an unofficial visit next week when they start practicing. That's about it.

My best piece of advice.

Scholly or no scholly, make sure you go somewhere that fits you personally and academically. We cant all be Earvin Johnson, or Mike Jordan. Most of us will have to work for a living. Figure out what you want to do, find a school that can help you achieve it.

Secondly, take your family into consideration. Do you want to take a scholly so bad that you would move away to a school just to go for free, and leave your family and friends behind. Some people think this is an advantage and that is cool also. Just make sure the distance suits you.

Thirdly. If you get scholly offers that dont excite you, but have walk on opportunities at places that DO excite you, walk on. Work your azz off, and earn a scholly down the road a piece. I know this method works, and it works very well.

My own kid passed on a free ride (academic) to the school she has always loved, to attend a school she would learn to love (mostly free ride) to be closer to family. Couldnt stand the thought of being 8.5 hours from mom and pop. And now, that kid is a scholly athlete, all due to that HEART thing that I mentioned in my other breathlessly long post.
(Im sure you already knew to think about this shtuff anyways, just reminding you)
