just run. its 90% mental. if you don't have a time to meet anyone can complete 3 miles. its just about how much pain are you willing to endure. you can quit when you're dead
I refuse to walk and I want to put up a decent time. I also don't want to cross the line in borderline cardiac arrest. But I was playing mostly. I'm going to start off slow and loosen up and then just try to keep it free and easy. I wish I had some music to listen to or something. This will be my first race.
why would sign up for a race without at least training a bit. best suggestion I can give you - at the start everyone will go out balls to the wall. resist the urge to follow the crowd. you will see people in worse shape than you flying down the road. run your pace and you will pass them 5 minutes later.
