I was once sent to the store to get a thing called a flat iron. It was $100.

RV tried to surprise me one day by having her hair straightened. It lasted about 30 minutes before it poofed back up curly again. I like it better curly anyhow.

No reason other than demand. It's a wire, a handle and a temp controller. My soldering irons are the same basic principle and cost $80-$120. Because they are "special".

two years ago I donated my 17 inch pony tail to "Locks of Love" for kids with cancer.
RV wants me to grow my hair long again, so I think I may just let it go for a few years.
