Nat as much anymore. Liked it better back in the day when Big Ed was around. Good place to drink beer.

I use to go there all the time when he was there. He use to sit at the same place at the end of the bar. I found him him pretty intimidating as a young kid. Pizza is still the same today as it was back then though.

Bunch of us use to drive down just to drink beer and talk or listen to Ed. I guess he could come off intimidating.

It was more of just his looks. He wasn't very approachable, but he was really a soft spoken guy.

He may have changed some over the years. It was the mid-late 70's when we use to frequent it. He would come over to sit and talk many times. When I moved back to the Knox area about 7-8 years ago, I live in Oak Ridge for several years. Jackson Square was always packed with cars.

I went from the late 70's up until I moved in 1988. We would always check to see if Oak Ridge was having a home football game in the fall. Not a good time to go if they were.

Big Ed's-2*

My family stopped going back in the mid 90s after we noticed the huge confederate flag they had hanging in the place. My father sent a letter asking about it and voicing our concerns. They pretty much told us to piss off.

I don't remember seeing one when we used to go there. Would have been a big tip off, no doubt. I wonder if it was placed later or we were so drunk didn't notice.

I stopped going to Big Ed's after the first time, when I realized it was mediocre food.

Now that I've found out they proudly fly the flag of the Confederacy, I will have to start going back.

I don't remember ever seeing a rebel flag in there. Big Ed was full Italian I believe, I don't know why he would have one to begin with.

You probably think Red Lobster is the best seafood in town too, huh?
