No offense, but I think you need experience in playing sports to understand it.
It's not his fault he didn't have the athletes for depth; that's on the coaches before him. He is getting those now, though.
A coach's job is preparation, and yeah, they sometimes failed at that this season.
But it is a player's responsibility to execute the plan given to them, and I didn't see much of that at all. Coach can't catch a ball for you or make a tackle.
But, they can chew your ass off and bench you if you don't perform. We have a good sized O line. Why can they push a foot or two to help the running game? I don't know. I'm not there. And, we have some that can't see the field and run up the backs of the offense far too often (Poole). It's a business. Make it profitable or you're out. Part of the problem is the multi year contracts that all coaches are given. 2 year contracts would be good. In my business, I didn't have the luxury of multi year contracts. I had six months. Turn it around or else. I never failed.
I don't understand not being able to make gaps, either. It takes will and strength. We lacked one or both of them. Could just have been the culmination of the attitudes of the linemen and the running style of Poole. I hope Dooley gets it together because I really like him.
