Stayed in San Diego years ago and enjoyed it. Nice and warm until you decide to go the beach and the temp drops 10 degrees and you can see the smog over LA. Plus La Jolla beach is dirty and the friggin water is cold. But San Diego is gorgeous.

The water is definitely colder than in Florida. You have to wear a wet suit most of the year. However, sorry but you can't see the smog from LA, its 100 miles north of us past Orange County. You probably saw a Marine layer, which is clouds coming in from from the ocean that usually burns off around 10 to 11am daily.

And La Jolla is probably the nicest, wealthiest part of San Diego and has a very clean and nice beach. Think you are mistaken on that one

Sup everyone!!!

Newt, LOVE the new avatar!!! Growing up, going to the Sanrio store in East Town was always a highlight. I love Hello Kitty.

Which hill/what city? Just my curiosity. When I lived there, I would leave work in the San Bernardino smog drive home to blue skies about 20-25 minutes away. I lived in the Angeles National Forrest at an altitude around 6500 feet. Once I was above the snowline (3500 feet or so), I'd break through the smog and have blue skies the rest of the way.

Rancho Palas Verdes just outside of L.A.

Nice area and nice park right there where they are. Beach Boy country just North of there in Hawthorne. I was going to give you directions for a really nice drive there, but you'd have to drive about 50 miles to Pasadena to start it. It's a two lane drive that runs from Pasadena up through the Angeles Forrest. It's 55 miles long and nothing on the road except one little cafe until you reach Wrightwood.
