You have about 20 minutes to take off before it starts freezing again.
- Type II fluids are "pseudoplastic", which means they contain a polymeric thickening agent to prevent their immediate flow off aircraft surfaces. Typically the fluid film will remain in place until the aircraft attains 100 knots or so (almost 200 km/h), at which point the viscosity breaks down due to shear stress. The high speeds required for viscosity breakdown means that this type of fluid is useful only for larger aircraft. The use of type II fluids is diminishing in favour of type IV. Type II fluids are generally light yellow in color.

No, no oxygen tank. I wear a neoprene cold weather hood/mask combo. The stuff is only toxic if you drink a fair amount of it. even then it wont kill you, but you'll vomit til you see the inside of your stomach laying on the floor. There is a dye in the fluid so we can see where we have sprayed.Pretty cool. Is 15 minutes the normal time to do that? Do you wear an oxygen tank and mask? Looks like the ice/snow changes to a reddish-orange color. Is there a dye in the compound that does that to make the ice/snow more visible for removal?
