Alcoa has been spending some major money lately, but Maryville will always have nicer houses and land.

ONLY 6"-8" inches of snow? I bet it is beautiful though. Do things shut down there with that much snow or is like "eh, no big deal"?

I've never noticed anything slowing down The first year I was here, we got 18" one day the last week of October. I got in the car and drove around to take some pictures. It was snowing pretty hard but the streets were clear. It was that way when I lived in the mountains in California. It would snow a foot or so, but the roads were cleared immediately and kept that way.

I'm so sorry Newt! That's great he's a little better, but sorry it happened in the first place. Is he still in the hospital?

She was belonged to an elderly woman, who got her as a pup about a year ago. In time the woman found that she could not physically walk the dog. The woman dropped the dog, (then named "pretty girl" :no:) off at the anderson county vet, where my buddies wife works.

She got in touch with me and I mulled it over a bit. Last Saturday took my senior hound analyst (Thrasher), to take a look at her (I have named her "Samus"). Picked Samus up this morning and I am watching her explore my apartment.


BTW, the name Samus is from the Metroid video games. Samus is the main character and she is one of the only female videogame characters that kicks butt, takes names and doesn't dress like a slut (except Zero-Suit Samus, but that is for another discussion.)

I can't even imagine. You've lived in Knoxville, correct? Here, we get even a dusting of snow and everything shuts down. Panic mode isn't an accurate enough description. Are they just better prepared or is the landscape more flat?

So she was in a loving environment before. That's super important. Does she appear to be well behaved? I have a friend who adopted a dog that had been mistreated and he has destroyed her home. During a storm, he literally jumped through a window. The glass. She and her husband are so kind hearted they can't get rid of her. She has been to therapy, is on meds, etc.

Does she like to be petted and loved?

Better prepared. When you know that it's going to snow a lot every year, the areas are prepared and ready ahead of time. Equipment rolling before the first snow flake hits. Knoxville has always been that way. 1/2" and schools are shut down. My first move from Knoxville years ago was to Connecticut. At that time, you made an appointment to take your driving road test. On the appointed, it had snowed about 3"4" that morning and was still snowing. I decided to go anyway just for the ride. They were open and I took my road test during the snowstorm.

Edit=The landscape here and where I lived in Cali is much more hilly than anything you'll find in Tennessee.

Wow. That's crazy. Granted, I'm sure the people are more accustomed to driving in it as well. A few years ago when I was the manager at J.Crew, I was working the night shift. When I left the mall, it had been snowing for about an hour. At the time I lived off of Robinson Road. When I turned off Middlebrook, I only made it about 200 feet before police cars were blocking the road. Already, 5-6 cars had wrecked on the curvy roads. I could see one in the ditch right past the cops.

That night was a disaster, because I had forgotten my credit card at home that day. I ended up crashing with a friend.

I just saw Crazy Stupid Love and really enjoyed it. It's probably my favorite movie I've seen this year. Everybody here laughed at me when I said that.

I love Tom Hanks. Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump.

I recently watched We Were Soldiers and that movie was ****ing intense.

I love Superbad. My roommate is the identical twin of Michael Cera. Jonah Hill is hilarious and I can't wait to go see The Sitter on the 6th.

I bought a pair of slacks at J.Crew. They got some sort of blue stain on them and it wouldn't come out. I loved that pair of khakis. I need to get down to a store and pick up a new pair.

The few ice storms in Knoxville are the killers. I was there through two of them. Couldn't even walk on the streets, much less drive. But, some tried anyway.
