Beautiful question: The reaction was assuredly negative during my formative years. Then, when they realized I was both mysterious and adorable, the fascination was palpable. I've actually gotten hit on often as the years have passed due to my birthmark. They want to touch it and understand it: like my penis.

These days it's all about laughing at the reactions of children and Hilljacks.

I already regret typing this.

I used to tell the kids who mercilessly chided me in grade school the reason I had a red arm was because I was "part Injun". Even little Pooch had a solid grasp on the absurdity of judgement without character evaluation....

I think you are pretty self-actualized but do you go out of your way to cover it up? I.e. long sleeves when it's hot?

Seriously, though, I do go out of my way to be cool about all questions regarding my "deformity". It's the patent reason I'm a liberal, I suppose. Always root for the underdog....
