As I remember, They are basically a split of the human nature. I'm fuzzy so it's slow coming to me.The Houyhnhnms were the lighter side of humanity while the Yahoos were the greedy, possessive ones. Right? I need to re-read.

the Houyhnhnms present a sort of Utopian society based on reason. the yahoos are looked at as savages. however, as the story goes on, Swift uses the Houyhnhnms as a part of the satire in trying to make a statement about society at the time.

Swift was a master of satire, his "A Modest Proposal" was so sarcastic that people at the time took it seriously lol

One son/one daughter. Son born in Knoxville and daughter born in CT. Son-45/daughter 38. First marriage last 9 years.

I read that and wrote an essay for my gf. It was one of my better pieces. A decent read.

for the most part, yes. It is also the first part in the story where the reader is unable to connect with gulliver or see the situation through his eyes because he has separated himself so far from humanity.

Yeah. Son lives fairly close in Simi Valley, CA and daughter is back in Tennessee at this time. Yeah, a few more. Comes with the territory.

I used "A Modest Proposal" as a guideline for a 10 minute speech i wrote in rhetoric 101. it was badass.
