I80 through Wyoming is a terrifying drive during snowstorms and thunderstorms. The wind is insane.
It is even coming through Kansas in the flatland. I got stuck in a blizzard with snow drifts. they closed the Interstate. Couldn’t find gas or a roach motel

Washington state says coronavirus death toll rises to 6
Getting serious
Fla infected in Manattee County
It’s hard to untangle, but either 3 of those six or three of the new four were all nursing home residents.

The population health of my mom’s assisted living facility is shaky enough, but that of an actual nursing home (skilled nursing facility) is much worse. They are generally there for chronic illness, for post-hospital acute illness, or rehab from acute injury or surgery. They don’t have a lot of reserves (innate health) and are often quite elderly.

The deaths in China were highly concentrated among the elderly, especially those with co-morbidities (other illnesses, obesity, heavy cigarette use).

Fun fact: my husband and I are higher risk for COVID-19 due to age and lung problems (asthma, etc.) 🤪

I’m sure you two take the proper precautions.

I think you and I have different definitions of 'fun fact'.

Update on the BF. His surgeon wants him to do the genetic testing to see if he has a genetic disease before they move forward. Because of where the larger polyps are located, think a colonectomy is still recommended. I know all this because the doctor was in the lobby, talking on the phone to a colleague about the diagnosis and options, not knowing I was sitting there, listening and looking at the painting. Guess I’m going to do some more research on this stuff tomorrow.

Do you know how many polyps they found or estimated? 20, 50, etc

It’s a respiratory disease but it’s like the flu. Elderly and young kids with down immune systems are more susceptible but they need to find a vaccine.
Probably just China to kill off population

At 30, the largest ones were found in the most important part of the colon, as far as doing a partial salvage of his colon (hence me doing some more reading up on it)
Ok, that might explain wanting to do the genetic testing. 30 indicates it might be the milder form.

Familial adenomatous polyposis - Wikipedia

Check the section on attenuated FAP (number of polyps and age.) Good news, if so.

Thank you, I’m going to read all I can tomorrow (I’m one that believes knowledge is power, certainly true). Giving myself today to just, process.

We saw an 18 wheeler and a camper that both had been blown over on our trip.

One of the Interstate bridges in the Bay Area, that Exile knows well, goes from San Rafael to Richmond. Traffic is bad enough, but I remember at least a couple of times the wind flipping over an 18 wheeler during rush hour and the entire span being shut down.

* sigh *

All you can do is hope that it happens before you’re on the bridge. Otherwise, there. you. sit.

Our (rented) house could barely be seen from the bridge. I’ve gazed at it for many a long hour.

Loved watching the sun set atop the park just on the other side of the tunnel.
